For most of her life, Spencer O’Brien’s view of snowboarding existed within the intense, fast-paced pressure cooker of professional competition — and she thrived in it. Closing the book on that chapter and taking her signature power and unmistakable turn into the backcountry has been a massive-yet-welcomed change of pace. Exploring the mountains with peers like Arc’teryx athlete Tatum Monod has helped Spencer find her footing on an entirely new path.
