Arkeon turns CO2 into functional, climate-positive ingredients for food. Nourish people, regenerate the planet.
About us
We make food from CO2. Arkeon was founded with a mission to serve people and the planet by revolutionizing food production. We believe in regenerating the world and are proud to have found a way to nourish people while revitalizing ecosystems. Our proprietary ingredient production process is changing the way we produce food, turning industrial CO2 into versatile protein ingredients through microbial gas fermentation. We're pioneers in the sustainable production of all 20 proteinogenic amino acids, creating carbon-negative, clean-label functional ingredients. Our technology has vast potential for food security and decarbonizing heavy industry. In July 2023, we opened a Pilot Production Facility in Seestadt, Austria, and we are in the process of setting up our Demo Facility in 2024-2025. Join us in our mission to turn CO2 into food and build a more sustainable future. Join our team, one of the best places to work in Europe! 🏆 #1 Best Workplace Austria 2023 🏆 #12 Best Workplace Europe 2023 🏆 #5 Best Workplace for Millennials 2023

Thanks for speaking with us, brutkasten! Gregor Tegl sat down with the team at Brutkasten to talk about how Arkeon is changing the amino acid landscape with our gas fermentation technology. Check out the article below (in German) 👇

A new report by the Green Alliance think tank, commissioned by the Good Food Institute Europe, suggests that a shift towards #alternativeproteins (plant-based, cultivated, and fermentation-made foods) could significantly improve Europe's food self-sufficiency. This aligns perfectly with our mission at Arkeon. But first, here's the breakdown: 👉 Europe currently relies heavily on imports to feed its population, using twice as much foreign land compared to domestic land for food production. 👉 Increasing consumption of alternative proteins would require less land and could reduce reliance on imports by up to 75%. 👉 Supporting the production of alternative proteins creates economic opportunities. 👉 A shift toward alternative proteins will also benefit the environment by reducing reliance on technologies needed to achieve net-zero goals. The good news? Companies like us are developing solutions! Our alternative protein technology uses 99% less land and 0.01% of the water required by #conventionalfarming. Transforming industrial CO2 into all 20 essential amino acids 💡 With expertise in microbiology and gas fermentation, our Vienna-based portfolio company, Arkeon, has pioneered a process that transforms industrial CO2 into all 20 essential amino acids Highly resilient, single-celled microorganisms known as ‘archaea’ existed on Earth as far back as 3.8 billion years ago. Now these ancient microbes could play an important role in creating the carbon-negative alternative proteins that will be crucial to our future on this planet – not only through boosting food security but also by actively driving down emissions Check out this interview with co-founder Michael Mitsakos for more insight into Arkeon’s breakthrough advancements and technology https://lnkd.in/dGpDD2Fx #alternativeprotein #innovation #foodtech #sustainablefoodsystem
