DID YOU KNOW? In the fight against Metabolic Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (#MASLD), understanding disease progression is key to providing better care! The ARTEMIS Project, backed by the EU's Horizon 2020 program, is making strides in predicting the course of MASLD for patients. Here’s what we're focused on: 📌 Clinical Case 1: Fibrosis Progression in MASLD Patients Primary Goal: Distinguish between "fast" and "non-fast" progressing patients. Secondary Goal: Predict critical outcomes for patients, like time until liver failure, need for a transplant, or potential risk of liver cancer. With this predictive power, we aim to transform patient outcomes and empower healthcare providers to make informed decisions that save lives. 💪✨ Learn more about how virtual twin technology is revolutionizing liver health with ARTEMIS! 🔗 #ARTEMISProject #LiverHealth #Horizon2020 #MASLD #InnovationInHealth #FibrosisResearch #PatientCare #HealthcareTech #LiverDiseaseAwareness #PredictiveModeling MATICAL BC Platforms Medexprim European Liver Patients' Association - ELPA EASL | The Home of Hepatology UEG - United European Gastroenterology ESMO - European Society for Medical Oncology J. 🌍🔬 This October, for #LiverCancerAwarenessMonth, ELPA is grateful to the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (@EU_ScienceHub) for shedding light on the urgent need to tackle liver cancer. According to JRC’s latest estimates published in the European Cancer Information System (ECIS), #livercancer is the 6th leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the #EU. The data also show a significant gender disparity: men are nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed with and die from liver cancer compared to women, with a lifetime risk of 1 in 91 for men and 1 in 333 for women. Most cases in women occur after age 70, while in men, cases are more evenly split between ages 45-69 and over 70. 🏥🔍 The impact of liver cancer is not evenly distributed across Europe, with some countries experiencing notably higher incidence and mortality rates. These variations highlight the need for targeted action at both national and EU levels to reduce liver cancer’s impact. 🦠💉 Liver cancer #prevention is a central focus of the EU’s strategy, emphasizing healthier #lifestyles and reducing exposure to #risk #factors, such as poor diet (#FattyLiverDisease, #MASLD, #MASH , #tobacco use, #alcohol consumption, and lack of #physical #activity. With 70% of liver cancer cases globally linked to #hepatitis B and C #infections, prevention efforts also include improving access to hepatitis B #vaccination, which can significantly reduce the risk of liver cancer. Although no vaccine exists for #hepatitis C, Europe's Beating Cancer Plan is working to enhance access to #Cure #treatments that can prevent liver cancer associated with #HCV. 💶📉 The burden of liver cancer extends beyond health, with a €4 billion economic impact estimated across 31 European countries in 2018. Prevention efforts not only reduce cancer incidence but also help alleviate the broader economic and social costs associated with this disease. The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Knowledge Gateway offers valuable tools to help governments and organizations take action against liver cancer and other non-communicable diseases. Together, let's make liver cancer prevention a priority, save lives, and move towards a healthier future. 🙌 #HealthierFuture #CancerPrevention #BeatCancer #LiverHealth #EUScience European Commission European Parliament European Medicines Agency European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) EU Health and Food Safety UEG - United European Gastroenterology EASL the home of Hepatology ESMO - European Society for Medical Oncology International Liver Cancer Association (ILCA) Aleksander Krag Manuel Romero Gomez Marko Korenjak Nicholas Brooke Jeff McIntyre Michael Betel Shaibu Issa Milka Sokolović European Cancer Organisation European Foundation for the Study of Chronic Liver Failure (EF CLIF) Cancer Patients Europe - CPE PFMD .org European Public Health Alliance (EPHA)Global Liver Institute Fatty Liver Alliance MSc Milan Mishkovikj, M.A. https://lnkd.in/dJ_6YShS
