ASTHO announces Susan Kansagra, MD, MBA, as its new Chief Medical Officer beginning March 17. She was most recently assistant secretary and state health officer at NC Department of Health and Human Services and has held positions with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and NYC Health + Hospitals. Kansagra has also served as an appointed member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Community Preventive Services Task Force and as former President of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD). Kansagra earned her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration degrees from Duke University, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
