OUT NOW - Episode 19 of Trade Policy Decoded In this episode, Pru and Peter are joined by Dr Harry Wardana from the University of Adelaide, who shares valuable insights into Indonesia's vision for its future and the pivotal role of international trade and investment—especially trade agreements. Harry doesn’t shy away from discussing the challenges and contradictions that foreign investors face, despite their importance to Indonesia’s economic growth. The end of the podcast has a great kicker in Harry's description of how Australia's emissions reduction efforts are creating investment opportunities for Indonesian companies in Australia, that are, in turn, supporting Indonesia's green transition. So the vast majority of Trade Policy Decoded podcasts include some great insights and interesting discussion (even if we say so ourselves!). But the just-released Episode 19 on Indonesia's Trade Policy under President Pabowo is full of fantastic and important insights. In this episode, Pru and Peter are joined by Dr Harry Wardana from the University of Adelaide. Harry sets out Indonesia's vision for its future and the role international trade and investment, particularly trade agreements, will play in that. Harry's frank about the challenges and contradictions that create hurdles for foreign investors who are critical for Indonesia's economic growth. The end of the podcast has a great kicker in the description of how Australia's emissions reduction efforts are creating investment opportunities for Indonesian companies in Australia, that are, in turn, supporting Indonesia's green transition. an important reform that aligns Australia with our key global trading partners
Public consultation to inform options for implementing legislation aligned with the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records (MLETR) in Australia is now open. Implementation of the MLETR would simplify Australia’s cross-border trade environment by enabling Australian businesses to use electronic methods for managing transferable records, such as bills of lading and bills of exchange. We are seeking the views of trade participants, businesses and technology providers to help inform the future of Australian paperless trade. To learn more and have your say, visit our website: https://lnkd.in/dUUFdR3y Consultation closes Monday 28 October 2024.
