About us
We are a global community based intervention program, promoting literacy, economic empowerment, health, wellness and social inclusion. Providing BASIC tools for self sustainability Since the year 2000, BASICS International has impacted over 300,000 through community outreach, provided over 3000 educational sponsorship’s, of which half was provided to the girl child. We have provided shelter to risk girls, provided scholarships to over high school students, and made it possible for 5 ( and counting) university graduates.

To steal a phrase from the one and only Frederic "Dr. B" Bertley we " We Can't make this stuff up" - COSI 's mission is to Engage, Inspire and transform lives and communities by being the best partner in science Technology and industry learning. Well it was such an honor and privilege to Partner with founder and executive director Patricia Wilkins (Aunty Pat) and @B.A.S.I.C.S international nestled in the heart of Chorkor, Accra Ghana. This place is more than a tech hub - it truly is a beacon of Hope for marginalized youth in their community. they are transforming lives and helping to bridge the digital divide in Chorkor. With my Colleagues Andy Aichele Amy Parker working hand and hand, we worked, we danced, we laughed, we cried and most importantly made a difference one day at a time!! Wow just Wow!! Exciting Milestones at the Chorkor Digital Lab! a Subsidiary of B.A.S.I.C.S INTERNATIONAL I’m thrilled to share a glimpse into the incredible journey we’ve embarked on at the Chorkor Digital Lab, where we recently celebrated our first two graduating classes. In just a few short months, we've seen remarkable progress—empowering young minds with digital skills that will shape their futures and transform our community. The joy and pride on their faces as they received their certificates remind us why we do what we do. But we’re just getting started. This September, we’re launching three new classes, expanding our reach and impact. With a growing team of dedicated instructors, we’re more committed than ever to providing opportunities for growth and development. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this initiative, especially Cisco for making this possible. We’re eager to continue building on this momentum and can’t wait to see what’s next. For the next three months, Laila will be in Accra, Ghana, where she will immerse herself in the culture of Chorkor and support our mission by tutoring children and launching a new writing program to uplift student voices. 2023-25 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholar | Public Affairs, Education, and Sociology Triple Major at UCLA
I am thrilled to announce that I have officially embarked on my journey in Ghana as an Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholar for Public Service! 🇬🇭 For three months, I will be living in Accra, Ghana to become immersed in their rich culture while furthering my interests in international education. I am incredibly humbled to serve as a Global Ambassador Intern with B.A.S.I.C.S INTERNATIONAL, a social intervention center that increases education access and provides holistic services to children living in Chorkor, a community experiencing extreme poverty. I will be tutoring and teaching children core subjects, along with launching a new writing program to uplift student voices and develop their storytelling skills. I am honored to join this impactful organization and support their mission of ending cycles of illiteracy and poverty. I would like to deeply thank the Obama Foundation for providing me with this rare opportunity to travel across the world and pursue meaningful public service! 🌍
