BEL is thrilled that the RESIST Disruptions project, a collaborative project of six-cooperatives led by Delaware County Electric Cooperative, Inc., has been selected to move forward with $28M of funding from DOE. The project will help strengthen the electric grid as invasive species, such as the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, have increased the outages and damage from storms. The project will largely benefit northern portions of Appalachia in PA and NY as well as rural portions of NJ. We are grateful for the support of Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) that provided a planning grant to develop the project concept. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eZ9hu2ad

I had the privilege of representing the Beneficial Electrification League at the U.S. Department of the Treasury Working Session on Direct Pay Technical Assistance for State and Local Governments last week. Deputy Secretary Adeyemo delivered insightful remarks that resonated with the gathered group of providers serving communities, cities, counties, mayors, state governments, and other non-profits across the country.    We are very excited to be working with the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to provide technical assistance to help not-for-profit electric co-ops and municipal utilities leverage Direct Pay for their infrastructure projects under our new ARISE Appalachian Region Community-Owned Grid Resilient Infrastructure Project https://lnkd.in/eijfPrhu   Deputy Secretary Adeyemo’s remarks truly captured the collective sentiment and importance of this work: “Direct pay was one of the most complex provisions of the IRA to implement because it deals with many organizations and entities that have never filed a tax return.
