A look back at the final supermoon of 2024 🌕 Forbes recently published an exquisite collection of photos of the November supermoon, dubbed the “Beaver Moon.” The bigger- and brighter-than-average full moon lit up night skies worldwide, offering a reminder of the beauty and vastness of the universe above. While the Beaver Moon was the last supermoon of the year, keep an eye out for the final full moon of 2024 — named the “Cold Moon” — expected to appear on December 15.

Did you know that, beyond requiring massive energy resources, #ArtificialIntelligence and data centers also need vast amounts of water? According to a recent Bloomberg Green report, “Large data centers can use as much as 5 million gallons of water a day—the same as a town of 50,000 people.” In response to this impact, the Berkeley Space Center development is pioneering sustainable water solutions through: 🌧️ Stormwater Management: On-site treatment and retention to prevent runoff and conserve water. 🔄 Recycled Water Systems: Facilities for landscaping and building use, with potential integration into local municipal systems. SVLG and the Berkeley Space Center recently hosted their Discovery and Innovation in Silicon Valley event at NASA Ames Research Center. The event featured a panel with special guest Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. The discussion, moderated by California Senator Josh Becker, included Alex Bayen of UC Berkeley and Tim Smith of SKS Partners, focused on the Berkeley Space Center development’s impact on Silicon Valley’s innovation economy. The event kicked off with welcome remarks from Astronaut and UC Regent José Hernández, SVLG CEO Ahmad Thomas, and NASA Ames Research Center Director Dr. Eugene Tu. We also heard insights from other key speakers like Dr. Nelson Pedreiro of Lockheed Martin and Jaya Bajpayee, NASA Ames Deputy Director for Exploration Technology, on the cutting-edge advancements transforming space exploration.
