We're proud to partner with Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada to provide critical health services for refugees sheltering in Bangladesh. 🩺 Together, we can build a healthier, more prosperous world. 🌐💓 #HealthCare #MaternalHealth #Bangladesh #RohingyaRefugees
In Bangladesh, women and girls – especially Rohingya refugees – face challenges accessing #MaternalHealthcare. The Rohingya, an ethnic minority from Myanmar, fled violence to seek refuge in neighbouring Bangladesh. But displacement comes with risks, and maternal health is one of them. Azida, a 21-year-old Rohingya mother, knows this struggle firsthand. When Cyclone Remal hit in 2024, she was heavily pregnant and went into labour with nowhere safe to give birth. Amid the chaos, a BRAC community health worker reached her just in time to transport her to a BRAC Primary Health Center, helping her deliver her baby safely. Through Canada’s support for Addressing Gaps in Refugee Access to Health through BRAC, as of March 2024 over 5,000 healthcare providers have been trained on #SexualAndReproductiveHealthAndRights, and over 4 million people have accessed health services – including Rohingya refugees and women across Bangladesh. By investing in initiatives like this, we are helping #ReduceMaternalMortality, strengthen health systems, and #EmpowerWomen. Why does this matter to Canadians? Because #GenderEquality and healthcare are universal rights. When we support maternal health globally, we build a healthier, more equitable world for all. 📸 BRAC BRAC | #ChildHealth | #DevelopmentMatters | #EqualityForAll | #EveryMotherCounts | #GlobalDevelopment | #GlobalEquality | #GlobalGoals | #GlobalHealth | #GirlsRights | #HealthcareForAll | #HumanRights | #MotherhoodMatters | #NewbornHealth | #Rohingya | #SafeBirth | #SexualHealth | #SRHRWeek | #UniversalHealthcare
