About us

The mission of the Buckley Institute is to promote intellectual diversity and freedom of speech at Yale University. We believe that genuine intellectual diversity is essential for advancing critical inquiry and seek to challenge ideological complacency wherever it exists.

  • “Just this week, the Buckley Institute at Yale University sent me a report on faculty political diversity at Yale…You have under 3% republicans, 78% democrats, and the remainder are unaffiliated. What does that do to the intellectual diversity of the university?…How can a great university say they are truly a great university if there is no intellectual diversity?” Former Congressman Rob Simmons discusses the stakes of Buckley’s Faculty Political Diversity Report findings with The Voice of Freedom’s Lee Elci. • “Free speech and civility are waning on campuses across America.” That was the warning from Vice President Mike Pence, this year’s Disinvitation Dinner keynote speaker, back in 2017. He has since been a stalwart for free speech and intellectual diversity on America’s college campuses. Vance, and Kevin McCarthy, discusses what it takes to craft a memorable speech.
