You've never seen NetPlus® like this. Ahead of our Trade Show season, Bureo set out to showcase the range of applications for NetPlus material — the soft, airy, stretchy, or waterproof fabrics made from 100% recycled fishing nets — in an eye-catching way. That's why we commissioned the experts at Portland Garment Factory to bring their creativity to the job, resulting in this incredibly unique (and fun to interact with) sculpture. NetPlus fabrics are in millions of products, from cozy puffy jackets to buttery-soft knit leggings and PFC-free rain shells. We collaborate with like-minded brands to offer customers a more responsible material and reduce reliance on virgin nylon. If you'll be at this Fall's FUNCTIONAL FABRIC FAIR (powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS) in Portland today or tomorrow, visit us and our sculpture at Booth # 1112A.

We recently had a chance to sit down with the Albion team to understand their approach to designing functional apparel for cycling. Going beyond building quality products that allow riders to stay outside longer, Albion has made a commitment to responsible sourcing which continues off the bike with free lifetime repairs of their products. Excited to share Albion’s new Zoa Mountain Jacket features Pertex® Quantum built from NetPlus® — transforming 100% recycled fishing nets into a windproof face fabric that protects from the elements. Thankful for Albion's thoughtful design process and disruptive approach to progress cycling towards a cleaner future! Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eH6A5U7r

The ocean’s future is our future. We first met the Finisterre team in 2014 through friends at Surfers Against Sewage, bonding over a love for cold ocean currents and biting winds known to all who frequent the Northern Atlantic waters. At the time, we had completed the first production run of our cruiser skateboards in Chile from a few tons of recycled fishing nets. Fast forward 10 years through a journey of material innovation and thousands of tons of recycled nets — to the relaunch of Finisterre’s Nimbus jacket built from NetPlus® material. Designed for cold water surfers and adventurers beyond the sea, we are grateful to work with the Finisterre team to expand their positive impacts on the ocean and commitment to responsible materials. Learn more about the Nimbus and our journey with Finisterre at: https://lnkd.in/g-ka7Q88. Check out the Finisterre podcast episode featuring our co-founder David M. 10million pounds and counting -- we are thankful to be on this ride Patagonia!
When Patagonia’s Tin Shed Ventures first invested in Bureo Inc in 2014, we had a hunch it was going to be big. Ten years later, the California startup has kept over 10 million pounds of discarded plastic fishing nets out of the ocean to be turned into recycled materials for clothing and gear. That’s the equivalent poundage of roughly 283 shipping containers or 2.5 million Chicago deep dish pizzas. Bureo got its start transforming fishing nets into material for skateboards and sunglasses. When we linked arms to help them scale, our product innovation team spent years of R&D with Bureo to develop NetPlus material, a recycled nylon worthy of high-quality products such as our Baggies and Down Sweaters, and recycled HDPE for hat brims. Our goal has always been to develop and strengthen waste-based supply chains so other brands can use them, too. As of 2024, more than 20 brands are using NetPlus. It’s powerful proof that product innovation paired with investment can move mountains (of fishing nets). To see how it all started, check out our short film below. https://lnkd.in/gNgVXmD9
