In the last few days of 2024, we present some #userstories. Adrian Torres is Head of R&D at Aptadel Therapeutics, a start-up that develops RNA-based therapeutics for paediatric cancers. They have developed RNA-based aptamers that recognise EphA2, a known driver of metastasis. With canSERV’s support, they’re studying the EphA2-aptamer interaction and its downstream effects using crystallography, BLI, RNA-seq and phospho-proteomics. They will also study the regulatory framework for clinical application, to spearhead the clinical development of therapeutic aptamers. Importantly, projects must align with at least one of the strategic objectives of the EU Cancer Mission. These objectives are: (i)              advancing our understanding of cancer (ii)             improving prevention and early detection (iii)           enhancing diagnosis and treatment (iv)           improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
