We are pleased to announce the launch of 2024 Diversity Among Philanthropic Professionals (DAPP) Survey recruitment! We invite all grantmaking foundations in the United States to participate. The DAPP Survey and Report aim to help the philanthropic community better understand its workforce and leadership. The survey is unique in soliciting anonymous self-reported information from individuals on the staff and board of participating foundations, helping grantmakers to accurately assess the culture and climate of their institutions. Drawing on the survey findings, we create the DAPP Report, which is a landmark tool for analyzing the philanthropic sector’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and provides a temperature gauge for progress towards a more inclusive sector. Self-determination is more than our history—it’s the force that has sustained us through generations and the promise that guides our path forward. At our 2024 NAPCON Conference Plenaries, we gathered to reflect on how self-determination shapes every aspect of Indigenous life: ➡️ It’s reclaiming sovereignty—not just through governance, but through the stories we tell and the futures we envision. ➡️ It’s asserting our rights to educate our children in our ways, grounded in our values and traditions. ➡️ It’s creating systems that serve our people, not systems imposed upon us. ➡️ And it’s determining how philanthropy can support Native-led solutions without undermining the power of our communities. Rising temperatures aren’t just affecting the landscapes—it’s hurting the culture, sovereignty, health, economies, and lifeways of Indigenous peoples around the world.
