OUR MISSION IS TO PREVENT ACCIDENTS AND INJURIES TO CHILDREN IN AND AROUND THE HOME.

About us

On November 1, 2007, Charlie Horn, a 2-year-old Kansas City boy, died when a dresser fell on top of him in his room. It was through this tragedy that Charlie's House was born. What started as a memorial and an outpouring of public support has grown into a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization with safety at its core - dedicated to keeping the community informed and engaged when it comes to preventing injuries to children in and around the home. Charlie's House - Safety Demonstration House is a community resource that provides parents and caregivers with ways to set up their homes to make them safe for children. Located on Hospital Hill in Kansas City, the Safety Demonstration House is the nation's first simulation home to focus on injury and accident prevention and reducing safety risks. Free tours are offered to individuals and groups, and information and safety devices are available in the Safety Demonstration House Safety Resource Center.
