At the Symposium on General Population Screening for T1D, she offered her perspective as a pediatric endocrinologist on the “Challenges of General Population Screening for Early T1D,” highlighting the complexities of this critical topic. Congratulations to Dr. Nichole McCollum, emergency medicine physician, and her team for winning the Bronze Award at the 2024 District of Columbia Hospital Association Patient Safety & Quality Improvement Awards! Their project, Undertriage: A New Quality Metric to Improve Patient Care in the Pediatric ED, has made significant strides in enhancing pediatric patient safety. By identifying key drivers and implementing targeted interventions, Dr. McCollum's team successfully reduced undertriage cases from 3.6% to 3.1%. This achievement reflects their unwavering dedication to ensuring every child receives the care they need. Well done to the team on this impactful accomplishment!
