Congratulations to Councilman Kevin Conwell, the 2024 recipient of the National League of Cities' Public Service for the Arts award! As Chair of City Council’s Health, Human Services and the Arts Committee, Conwell works tirelessly to expand access to the arts for Clevelanders and in demonstrating the importance of the arts in promoting positive change and growth. Thank you to the Assembly for the Arts for their partnership and for nominating Councilman Conwell for the award!

Earlier this year, Council directed Mayor Justin M. Bibb to enforce the "Art Modell law" - a law passed in '96 to keep the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland. Council remains committed to the administration following through on this directive. Here's the ordinance. https://lnkd.in/g2eqtHQv

Cleveland City Council is looking for qualified applicants to fill one seat on the Civilian Police Review Board (CPRB). The board position is for a four-year term (up August 2028). Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must also live in the City of Cleveland at the time of appointment. Applications are due by Aug. 2nd. We all know lead poisoning presents severe health and mental impacts on young people. It's the reason why City Council is leading the fight to make Cleveland residences "lead-safe." Council is concerned about recent reports about lead safety in CMHA facilities and shared thoughts on the importance of reducing lead in the residences. Buckeye Road, a major east-side corridor, just received some TLC from City Council in the form of a $3.9M investment. The funds will be used to renovate empty storefronts, reimagine the neighborhood, and renovate it for residents and businesses. We love trees! Kudos to Councilmember Jenny Spencer (Ward 15) for taking the lead in calling for a new Division of Urban Forestry. This division will be responsible for tree maintenance, protection, and planting. Watch Councilmember Spencer talk more about the establishment of this new division.
