Hart County Schools in Munfordville, KY, has made history as the first district in Kentucky—and one of the first nationwide—to receive federal funding through #ElectivePay for a #geothermal system project. With $793,078.71 in federal funding, this groundbreaking initiative at Memorial Elementary School will cut energy usage by 52%, save $6.7 million over 20 years, and provide a healthier, more #EnergyEfficient environment for students and staff. This project, completed in partnership with CMTA, features a geothermal ground source heat pump system, #LED lighting upgrades, improved building automation, and enhanced #IndoorAirQuality systems. The upgrades not only reduce costs but also modernize infrastructure, demonstrating the district's commitment to #sustainability and enhanced #education. Explore how the low-maintenance engineering design of District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS)’ John Lewis Elementary School is setting a new standard in #EnergyEfficient, #HighPerformance MEP systems for #K12 facilities, performing at an EUI of 16. This forward-thinking approach includes centralized #geothermal systems that minimize upkeep and provide a hub for all system components, streamlining facility management processes. By reducing maintenance demands, the collaboration between Perkins Eastman DC Department of General Services, Gilbane Building Company, and CMTA has delivered significant cost savings for DC Public Schools, allowing more resources to be allocated directly to educating our children.
