🌍Last month, the city of Cali brought together decision-makers, stakeholders, experts and activists at the high-level COP16 Colombia summit. Together, attendees navigated crucial conversations and negotiations on the next chapter for biodiversity on planet Earth. 🤝 CO-OP4CBD, along with its Horizon Europe partners from the BioAgora Project, the RESPIN project and Biodiversa+, set out to join these critical conversations with a unique contribution to the conference's programme. 🔎 The project did so by co-hosting two thematic side events at the EU Pavilion that featured specialist insights on the importance of the science-policy interface (SPI) on the road to the efficient application of CBD processes and the achievement of the KM-GBF’s biodiversity goals. 🔗 You can find a full recap of our participation at the conference here: https://lnkd.in/dRkKYEMc   #Biodiversity #ForNature #ForOurPlanet #COP16Colombia

🌍 Following two weeks of multilateral negotiations on the future of climate change mitigation, COP29 Azerbaijan has now concluded. 🌿 The parties to the conference affirmed their commitment to a greener tomorrow by agreeing to more ambitious objectives in the context of international climate finance. 🧪 As eyes now turn to implementation, it is crucial not to lose sight of the critical role of science on the path towards policy success. 👀 Read below to find out more about the summit and its outcomes: #Biodiversity #ForNature #ForOurPlanet

[ 🌍 Acualité] Regard de la FRB sur la COP16 Colombia : des outils scientifiquement pertinents validés par le consensus politique    🌱 Depuis la clôture de la 16e conférence des Parties (#Cop16) de la Convention sur la diversité biologique (CDB), le manque d’ambition en matière de financement de la protection et de la restauration de la #biodiversité et les lenteurs relatives à la mise en œuvre du cadre mondial pour la biodiversité (adopté lors de la dernière Cop) ont largement été pointés du doigts.   🤝 Patience et pugnacité sont de mise pour aboutir à des consensus disruptifs, surtout en partant de positions aussi antagonistes que celles exprimées par les pays du nord et les pays du sud. Ces temps de négociation et d’ajustement restent absolument indispensables, car ils permettent d’établir un « socle de base » (accepté par tous les États), constitué notamment : du cadre mondial et ses 23 cibles pour vivre en harmonie avec la nature, des liens entre biodiversité, changement climatique, agriculture et santé. Ce socle de base pour un avenir commun, des visions partagées, des actions concertées, se construit pas à pas.   ✅ Malgré ces critiques, la Cop16 a néanmoins permis de notables avancées institutionnelles qui ne devraient pas être éclipsées, vis-à-vis des communautés locales et peuples autochtones et concernant les aires marines protégées, les liens biodiversité-climat, le fonds de Cali.   🔍 Deux points concernant le socle de base ont particulièrement retenu l'attention de la FRB, concernant : la comparaison des plans de gestion de la biodiversité (les NBSAP) des 44 États Parties qui les ont déposés et la finance durable.   ➡️ Découvrez le regard complet écrit par Denis COUVET et Hélène Soubelet, président et directrice générale de la FRB | Fondation pour la recherche sur la biodiversité : https://lnkd.in/eiBhfnBX 👉 Plus d’informations sur la finance durable : https://lnkd.in/erQDyU3T
