Did you know? In Colorado, nonprofit leaders who reach out (even once) to a state official about a bill MUST register as lobbyists, pay fees and file reports for a full year. This process is costly and limits many nonprofits’ ability to advocate for their causes. To empower nonprofits, the Colorado Nonprofit Association is spearheading a 2025 legislative proposal that would allow staff limited communication with state officials—without the lobbying red tape.
