We are excited to share that we are continuing our support for the Women in Ocean Food programme, in partnership with Conservation International Ventures and Hatch Blue. For the next three years, we’ll be funding this incredible initiative to help early-stage female entrepreneurs in emerging markets thrive in the blue food sector. This commitment allows us to help empower more women, provide valuable resources, and build lasting community support within the aquaculture industry. 🦐 We are also looking forward to the upcoming edition in Baja California Sur, Mexico, in January 2025, where participants will pitch their ideas, gain feedback, and connect with industry leaders. We are thrilled--though not surprised--that Environmental Finance awarded its Climate Impact Project/Investment of 2024 to Green Gold Forestry Peru for its Green Gold Loreto project. Congrats to Gareth Hughes and his Green Gold Forestry team for serving as the model for how forestry companies can conserve and restore forests in a way that delivers climate, community and biodiversity benefits -- and support nine Sustainable Development Goals. The story of ABALOBI is one of care, community and deep love of the ocean. ABALOBI connects local fishers directly to consumers through an app. But it’s so much more: it’s a commitment to sustainable fishing, promoting local species, and providing jobs and careers to people on the very frontlines of the climate and biodiversity crises in Southern Africa. I’m thrilled to announce that Conservation International Ventures LLC is providing $250,000 in flexible financing for ABALOBI’s Fisher-to-Marketplace program. This funding will allow ABALOBI to build an inventory of green-listed fish species, helping small-scale fishers meet export demand and bring their fish to even more tables.
