Renewable Energy Labor Economist - Placing Renewable Energy Executives

Happy Monday LinkedIn! Hope you’re well. While some of you have been familiar with Morgan, we’re going to start posting more about when new people join our team and so I wanted to highlight Morgan – our recruiter specializing in solar and BESS development roles (1MW+). Here’s a few questions to get to know Morgan Orr better! 🏠 Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Texas, moving from Dallas to San Marcos before eventually leaving the US. 🏖️ Favorite vacation spot? My favorite vacation spot is Indonesia. As an avid scuba diver, I find the dive sites in Indonesia to be incredible. I am always looking for new dive site suggestions! ⏳ If you could go back in time, which time period would you go back to? I’d go back about 10 years with a set of winning lotto numbers. ☀️ What inspired you to get into a career in renewables? The opportunity to transition from education to the renewables sector aligns with my desire to positively impact the environment. I’m eager to explore this new path and contribute to meaningful change. ❤️ What do you like about recruitment? I am a people person, so a job with daily human connections is ideal. My favorite part about living abroad was the diverse people I met, and recruitment provided me with a similar opportunity. 🍿 Favorite snack? I love popcorn with pickled jalapenos (Texans know) 🏆 Why are you excited to join Cranberry? After previously working with Eric, the founder of Cranberry, I was excited to take on this new opportunity with an old colleague and friend. Based on our previous collaboration, I was confident that this move would be successful and wanted to join the team. 👷  A short description of your background (professional) I began my career in crude logistics before transitioning to international education. Living, teaching, and managing abroad for seven years deepened my understanding of different cultures and revealed my strengths. I’m looking forward to integrating my environmental interests into my professional journey.

Recruiting Solar & BESS Developers across C&I, DG/Community, and Utility Scale

Are you a developer in solar or BESS projects? I specialize in matching developers with solar, BESS, or other renewable energy backgrounds with roles across project development, business development, origination, land acquisition, permitting, and other roles involved before NTP. Seniority levels range from entry to C-Suite. I work across the US, but primarily in ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYSIO, and ISO-NE. Before starting a career in renewables recruitment, I worked in the oil and gas sector in an entry level trade role, I learned that while I has passion for a career in energy, I did not like working in fossil fuels and while I was interested in pursuing a career in renewables, young Morgan preferred to go into international education and see the world. After having the opportunity of a lifetime to live in Korea and China and teach some of the kindest and sweetest students, I decided to return to the US and pursue other passions. I've been a hiring manager and job seeker many times in my career and really have a passion for developing and supporting others. After getting to know Cranberry AI and the success of Cranberry Recruitment's services I decided to try recruitment, and I quickly learned that I am very passionate about it! I am very excited about getting to meet new people in the renewable energy sector and help them develop their careers, I help people at any point in their career and job search. Even if you're not looking, I'd love to chat and tell you more about what types of projects and skillsets are attracting the most attention. I am also extremely passionate about helping other women grow their career in the renewable energy sector and I am working on some projects in the background to support women in energy. Send me a message if you'd like to organize a chat!

Renewable Energy Labor Economist - Placing Renewable Energy Executives

🤣 I was just thinking this morning about all the micromanagers that came before and one story came up that I know a lot of you will find HILARIOUS! 🤣 I once worked in an office where music was an important and positive part of our company culture. We used to take turns and come together as a group to find the songs and playlist that matched out mood of the day and things were great! Doesn't that sound like a positive environment?! - Not to management! 🤣 See "leadership" noticed that some people were struggling to reach KPIs and decided to intervene - with MUSIC! 🤣 We received an email that the music we selected for work was inappropriate (it was instrumental) and instead we would be listening to DANCE and POP music daily. 🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺 The idea was to motivate us to work harder (this was explicitly stated), but it actually instantly DEMOTIVATED because our daily group ritual of selecting the tunes for the day was eliminated, taking away the last bit of personality we got to have when we came to work. Not even the MUSIC WE LISTENED to was under our control... Well as you can imagine it fell apart quickly. While I love Nicki Minaj, some of her lyrics aren't really appropriate for the workplace and OF COURSE being a recruiter on the phone all day people could hear and it was distracting. We ended up having to talk louder and louder to compete with Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift for attention and eventually just ended up shouting over each other, and of course the other end of the line could hear that. I will never forget the time I was consoling someone who was telling me that their mother died AND they lost their job all in the same month while WAP (yes THAT song) played unedited in the background, that was a new low I couldn't even imagine. Management did not budge on their music decision, they thought that they knew how to motivate us and when were explicitly told the opposite got angry and upset. I think the moral of the story here is always listen to your employees and don't break things that aren't broken. #micromanager #micromanage #badmanager #badleadership #music #challenge
