FIPI, Injury & Violence Prevention Center, and Trailhead Institute's Firearm Harm and Violence Prevention Office are thrilled to co-host the Denver REACH Clinic’s “Community-Academic Forum: Healing from Community-Based Violence” on February 3-4, 2025. The recently launched REACH Clinic, run by Denver Youth Program, is a post-discharge wound care and wraparound services clinic for individuals who have been injured through community-based interpersonal violence. This forum and its events will provide opportunities to learn more about the Denver REACH Clinic and how partners from a variety of sectors can support such community-based efforts and get involved in community violence prevention and healing. We are excited to announce the release of two companion reports!! The first, “Guiding Research Principles and Priorities for the Black & Brown Collective for Community Solutions to Gun Violence,” outlines our research principles and details the research questions that guide our work. The second, “The Case for More Equitable and Community-Engaged Research to Address Firearm-Related Violence in Black and Brown Communities,” emphasizes the importance of more equitable and community-engaged research to address gun violence and the need to invest in and grow the field of Black, Brown, and historically underrepresented scholars committed to centering equity in the research process.
