DATA4PT... it's a wrap! Yesterday, DATA4PT partners, experts and representatives of EU Member States joined in Brussels for the final review meeting with the European Commission. 📊 Unlocking the power of data for sustainable mobility: the DATA4PT project successfully concludes 🚀 Coordinated by UITP and launched in 2020 alongside Technical Manager ITxPT, and funded by the European Commission's DG MOVE, DATA4PT has advanced data practices across public transport, enhancing multimodal journeys and ensuring seamless travel. 🎤 At the final event, partners shared how the project has improved operations and passenger information. The DATA4PT Final Event is in full swing here in Karlsruhe! Great to welcome our keynote speakers of today, with UITP Secretary General Mohamed Mezghani opening the event emphasising how the digital transformation that is reshaping our sector will only succeed if we meet passengers’ expectations. ‘We need appropriate digital tools to empower people to organise their mobility without the need to own a car… Data is an indispensable ally to this.’ Secretary General of ITxPT Anders Selling focused on how interoperability of data is vital for a multimodal mobility system and seamless mobility. ‘It’s all about customer satisfaction and passengers experience. And passengers need trustworthy information.’ Our final keynote speaker Petra Söderqvist, Policy Officer at the European Commission highlighted how the 4 pillars of #DATA4PT (knowledge, support, exchange and long-term sustainability) were key for the success of the project. ‘On an average working day, 185 million people are travelling with urban and suburban public transport services in the EU. It’s important that the right public transport data is available to them.' During the rest of the event we’ll hear from many other partners, EU Member States and stakeholders that will delve deeper into the challenges and opportunities for standardised data exchange, and the next steps in enabling seamless mobility services through exchange of travel data for the passengers. 🛴 NeTEx for alternative modes: Setting the Standard! 🌟 NeTEx is a Transmodel standard originally developed to facilitate interoperability and integration of public transport in the regulatory context of the Delegated Regulation MMTIS (EU)2017/1926. The scope however expanded (part 5) to include all modes of demand responsive transport, also referred to as the “alternative modes” (e.g. bike and scooter-sharing, bike-hire, shuttle bus, taxi, car-sharing, car-hire…). Today, we are proud to spotlight Voi Technology, an important European micromobility provider operating in Brussels. VOI has recently taken a pioneering step by becoming the first private company in Belgium to register a NeTEx dataset for alternative modes on Transportdata.be. Our NAP Helpdesk together with DATA4PT project assisted VOI with the conversion where necessary.
