States need to engage in transmission planning. What policies can enable them to do so? We are pleased to announce the publication of a new report from Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG), "State Policies to Advance Transmission Modernization and Expansion." Developed through expert interviews and survey responses, the report explores the role that state policies can play in advancing cost-effective transmission modernization and expansion. The report is divided into three parts: 1️⃣ Background on the need for transmission expansion and modernization, key players in transmission development, and the authority and role of states in transmission. 2️⃣ The policies identified by the surveyed experts as playing critical roles in helping or hindering the development and modernization of high-capacity interconnected transmission solutions. 3️⃣ Excerpts of legislative and regulatory language from some of the state policies discussed in the report. DGA’s comments on the draft plan recommend expanding the proposed Plan to include increased public education, equitable energy access, and workforce equity. On-campus heating systems are a major source of direct greenhouse gas emissions for colleges and universities. A new DGA report tackles this issue head on by exploring numerous heating decarbonization pathways for higher ed campuses to consider. The report profiles seven different technologies, including bio-based alternative fuels, electrification options, and geothermal energy. New York launched a pilot program that will encourage hospitals to cut carbon emissions. This "first-in-the-nation" initiative will award credits worth up to $1 million to hospitals that pledge to achieve net-zero GHG emissions and enhance their resiliency. In their climate plans, hospitals must identify ways to reduce their direct AND indirect emissions, including emissions from the supply chain for anesthetics, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies. “This pilot program will incentivize hospitals to reduce their environmental impact and create a safer and healthier New York," Gov.
