Did you know there’s a seven-acre oasis right in Rouge Park changing the way Detroiters grow and access food? Meet the Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network. Since 2006, DBCFSN has been addressing food insecurity with a mission rooted in education, advocacy, and the vibrant D-Town Farm. At D-Town Farm, they grow over 30 types of fruits and veggies. And it’s not just about food – it’s about sustainability, too! From solar-powered energy systems and rainwater collection to large-scale composting and buzzing beehives, they’re working towards building a thriving ecosystem. 🐝 DBCFSN host hands-on workshops and programs that teach Detroiters how to grow their own food and live healthier. Plus, they’ve been driving big changes in local food policy, including helping establish Detroit’s food security policy back in 2006.
