A recent global Brand Audit Report by The Break Free From Plastic (BFFP) movement revealed a startling fact: worldwide 18 of the 20 most common items found in waste streams were related to food packaging, including beverage bottles, food wrappers, and food containers. This underscores the critical need to shift towards reusable service ware and packaging to combat plastic pollution and embrace a circular economy. Amid the packaging crisis, opting for reusable service ware is a must. Nonetheless, we have a solution for Colorado-based businesses. In a landmark move, Colorado has officially banned single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene containers. Effective January 1, 2024, stores and retail food establishments are prohibited from providing customers with these environmentally harmful items. While there are exceptions for using up existing stock, this ban marks a significant step towards reducing plastic pollution.
