EDCUtah works with state and local government and private industry to attract and grow high-value companies, spur the development and expansion of local businesses, and recruit out-of-state companies to Utah. EDCUtah is here to help companies through their expansion, relocation or consolidation processes. Congratulations to Texas Instruments, a 2023 EDCUtah corporate expansion project! The U.S. Department of Commerce has finalized an award of up to $1.61 billion to Texas Instruments through the CHIPS Incentives Program. This funding supports TI’s $18+ billion investment in new facilities in Utah and Texas, creating over 2,000 manufacturing jobs and thousands more in construction. It’s also a significant step forward for U.S. semiconductor production and economic growth! CHIPS for America
We’re proud to announce an award agreement of up to $1.6 billion in direct funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce through CHIPS for America to support three new fabs under construction in Sherman, Texas, and Lehi, Utah. Salt Lake City’s transformation into a tech hub began with the 2002 Winter Olympics, which attracted investment, talent, and business to Utah’s “Silicon Slopes.” Initiatives like boosting engineering graduates and welcoming companies like Adobe strengthened the region’s tech industry. Looking ahead to the 2034 Olympics, Utah plans to invest $31 million in infrastructure upgrades, expecting significant economic benefits and further growth. EDCUtah’s research team was pleased to collaborate with The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute on a newly released report on Utah's Innovation Ecosystems. The in-depth study examines the characteristics of innovation ecosystems and Utah’s specific strengths and opportunity areas. The report was commissioned by Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity and the Utah Policy Innovation Lab. The project’s advisory council included Brad Edison Bonham, David Carlebach, Pete Codella, Scott Cuthbertson, Kori Ann Edwards, Peter Given, Tori Hooper, Jefferson Moss, Jennifer Robinson, and Don Willie. Congratulations to Salt Lake City! CleanJoule, a full-performance sustainable aviation fuel company, announced plans to bring approximately 100 new technically-oriented jobs to Salt Lake City and invest $150 million in Utah over the next ten years. The company’s decision resulted from the collaboration of Salt Lake City, EDCUtah, and Jeff Rossi with Newmark. “Utah has an incredible talent pool and excellent leadership at the city and state levels.
