This week Bobby Guelich spoke with Dhruv Vasishtha of 25madison about how health systems are responding to margin pressure from cuts in the CMS physician fee schedule alongside increasing inflation. Their conversation about the creative new approaches health systems are willing to take in this ecosystem is worth the read alone, but another insight he shared that stood out: ❓𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜? 🗣️ That’s a big part of it. GenAI and other technologies are becoming more sophisticated, which allows for greater efficiency and a more human-like experience. But beyond the technology itself, the operators in this space are better equipped now. There’s a wave of experienced digital health professionals—many from successful companies like Oscar Health—who understand the challenges and have playbooks to address them. They’re not starting from scratch; they know how to leverage data, move it, and create value from it. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFVvh8SU

𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁. But that doesn’t mean other #AI healthcare vendors can’t survive and even thrive in this ecosystem. 🤝 While Epic seems to focus much of its development plans around high-competition categories like AI clinician assistants, there are significant opportunities in areas Epic isn’t focused on. We’ve broken down all of these market opportunities and threats in our latest report, designed for health system execs, AI vendor leadership, and investors: https://lnkd.in/eHx3XVHN

Thanks to Apple's Find My iPhone, AirTags, and competitors like Tile, we've established the revolutionary consumer expectation of being able to locate or “ping” a particular item with remarkable accuracy. In a complex health system with thousands of pieces of equipment and hundreds of staff members, that capability can prove invaluable. In this week's market map we're breaking down real-time location systems (RTLS) for healthcare, including their current functionality and where we see this category going. We've included: AiRISTA, Apprentice Health, Blyott, CenTrak, Cognosos, Inc., Kontakt.io, Midmark Corporation, Navenio , Securitas Healthcare, and Sonitor in our breakdown. As of 2023, Epic holds 39.1% of the U.S. acute care hospital EHR market share. If your institution isn’t currently using Epic, chances are you’re either considering it or your EHR vendor is already planning their next moves based on Epic’s roadmap. This—combined with the fact that health systems are hesitant to adopt new solutions if Epic has a comparable tool on its roadmap—gives Epic the ability to outcompete nearly any startup in a given category, should they choose to. In other words, what Epic does should be of interest to every health system leader, health IT startup executive, and health tech investor across the country. In our newest report we’re breaking down Epic’s current and publicly announced planned AI features to help healthcare decision makers understand how best to navigate an Epic-dominated ecosystem.
