How can utilities use #VirtualPowerPlants to meet evolving grid needs? “With emerging DER classes like batteries, #EVs, and building automation systems coming online, we’re deploying VPPs in new ways,” says Paul Hines, our Vice President of Power Systems. “But to reliably deliver the next evolution of cross-DER VPPs, the industry must lean into data-driven, scalable operations.” To learn more about the future of #VPPs and how to leverage their potential, read our latest white paper. Thank you to our clients, partners, and friends who joined us last night for our EdgeConnect Brooklyn event! A highlight of the evening was when Kerri Carnes of Arizona Public Service - APS sat down with Seth Frader-Thompson and Paul Hines for a discussion about the future of flexibility and how #VPPs can evolve to meet the grid's changing needs. To learn more, tune into Kerri and Seth's recent Frontier Forum discussion about why utilities should go big on VPPs 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gJpUaVNF #GridEdge #Utilities #DERMS #CleanTech #Energy #VirtualPowerPlant #DERs #CleanEnergy

We're having a great time at the 50th PLMA (@PLMAflm) conference! In yesterday's sessions, Frederick Hall and Daniel M Cooper explored how utilities can layer load management strategies to unlock more value with VPPs. We're continuing the conversation tomorrow with presentations from Ella Wynn Roseman, Nathan Shaw-Meadows, Matthias Hüls, and Erika Diamond about battery program design, VPP market participation, and more — make sure to save your seat! Our partnership with FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc. brings the benefits of whole-home energy storage and management to the grid through our Edge DERMS platform. “This partnership is another step toward promoting energy storage adoption among homeowners, while also supporting the creation of VPPs that optimize multiple distributed energy resources and offer utilities more flexibility to stabilize the grid,” said Matt Johnson. 🚗 ⚡ Jeff Huron took the stage with Sunil Goyal at the V2G Business, Policy & Technology Forum to share how we are unlocking grid parallel vehicle-to-home (V2H) capabilities in partnership with Ford Motor Company for National Grid using their existing battery VPP program. National Grid's ConnectedSolutions program is the first to enable the use of EVs as a resource alongside traditional batteries, paving the way for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality. Introducing Ford EVs into the ConnectedSolutions program will not only increase peak load reduction capacity and drive program scale, but also enable ancillary services via network management. EVs are a promising DER type for utilities looking to shift and shape load. But what kind of impact can they really make on the grid? In our latest study, we found that EnergyHub's active EV managed charging solution can effectively: ➡ Shift 60% of on-peak charging to off-peak hours ⬇ Reduce distribution-level peak demand by up to 30% 🔋 Ensure drivers get the charge they need by the time they leave home Learn more about the results of the study on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gyH9KQUJ #GridEdge #EVs #VPP #Utilities
