The Extractables & Leachables Safety Information Exchange (ELSIE) Board of Directors recently met in Vienna for timely discussions on regulatory and scientific topics important to the E&L space. Many thanks to all Board members, and in particular ELSIE Chair Patricia Parris (Ellis) (Pfizer), for their valuable input and strategic guidance of ELSIE priorities and activities. The Board meeting followed the Smithers E&L Europe conference which many ELSIE members attended including Petra Booij (GSK), who gave a well-received presentation covering the ELSIE Low AET subteam's work related to the challenges, potential solutions and alternative approaches of low analytical evaluation thresholds in leachable screening. #conference2024 #ELSIE #extractables #leachables

The Extractables & Leachables Safety Information Exchange (ELSIE) Consortium is pleased to announce the launch of the ELSIE Knowledge Base which is an E&L database that serves as ELSIE’s new research tool, storing not only toxicological safety information but also extractable study results on raw materials, single-use products, drug product packaging and delivery systems, and medical devices. Special thanks to Advanced Chemistry Development, Inc., (ACD/Labs) for their support in the development of the Knowledge Base. If you are interested in learning more about the ELSIE Knowledge Base, potential membership in ELSIE, or to discuss sharing your E&L data with ELSIE, please visit our website (www.elsiedata.org) or reach out to info@elsiedata.org. #collaboration #ELSIE #E&L #knowledgebase #datasharing

At upcoming Smithers Extractables and Leachables USA 2024, in a panel facilitated by ELSIE and moderated by Baxter International Inc., Pfizer, the FDA, and US Pharmacopeia will discuss Aligning Critical Aspects of the Execution of Extractable Screening Studies Between Labs with the Goal of Improving the Consistency and Quality of Data Produced. Agenda: https://lnkd.in/gHtAXf4 Aside from anecdotal evidence suggesting a lack of alignment in the execution of extractable screening studies between labs, the recent ELSIE survey on this topic highlighted notable areas where labs were indeed not well aligned. This panel discussion will provide the participants and the audience a chance to weigh in on the topic of how to achieve better alignment between labs, concerns with alignment, and suggestions as to how this may be best achieved. #elsie #pharma #riskassessment #pharmaceutical #medicaldevices #pharmapackaging
