The “MANNA Banana”!! Thanks Kay and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHMETROLINA) for always being there to jump in and help during disasters!!
Last week, I was honored to hand out 1,315 turkeys, fixings, eggs, and pies to neighbors in need at the WNC Farmers Market, alongside the incredible Kay Carter, CEO of Metrolina Food Bank. Thanks to the support of Metrolina Food Bank in Charlotte and the Michael Jordan Race team, Team 23XI, MANNA and our community were able to provide food for so many in need after Hurricane Helene. Metrolina Food Bank was the first sister food bank to show up for us, providing the first delivery of food boxes after losing everything. I have immense respect for Kay’s unwavering support. Together, we’re turning devastation into triumph. #Thanksgiving #Gratitude #Community #FoodSecurity #MetrolinaFoodBank #MichaelJordanRaceTeam23Xi #MANNA #HurricaneHelene #WNCFarmersMarket

A little over six weeks ago, Hurricane Helene brought mass devastation to the Carolinas. Since then, our communities have come so far. Our member Food Banks have remained resilient, especially MANNA Food Bank, which you may recall was completely lost in the destruction of the hurricane. But, thanks to our network of incredible supporters uniting together to Feed Hope— MANNA Food Bank has returned to serving all 16 counties in their area. This is nothing short of a miracle! We're so excited to share with you our latest blog post, which features a mini-documentary outlining the inspiring recovery process thus far for MANNA and sharing what lies ahead. The road to recovery is one that is full of hope, thanks to so many of you. And, with your help, we can continue to Feed Hope for the holidays. Our Executive Director, Mike Darrow, had the opportunity to speak at our Second Annual Nonprofit Issues Forum which brings together expert panels on policy issues in South Carolina and discussions on how to create solutions ahead of the 2025 legislative session. Mike spoke on the topic of accessing basic needs like food, shelter, and education. While these three things are essential for every person to thrive, many in the state of South Carolina face significant barriers to accessing them. In the days ahead, our panel of nonprofit experts will take a deep dive into these specific areas of policy and help shine a light on equitable, sustainable solutions for those in need in the state of South Carolina. #FeedingtheCarolinas #NonprofitIssuesForum #SouthCarolina #Awareness #Advocacy #BasicNeeds #FightHunger

52 days later … we finally have clean water in Asheville! 💧 I cannot begin to imagine the work that has made this possible. Thanks to all who donated! #FeedingHope
We're so proud to announce that Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day at the N.C. State Fair raised enough food to send 18 truckloads of food and supplies to our sister food banks in Western North Carolina! That's more than 280,000 meals for our friends and neighbors that have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. Thank you to everyone who brought donations and the nearly 500 volunteers who helped load trucks! #NoOneGoesHungry

What a great story!
We're so grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from across the country! A group of amazing women from Salt Lake City and the Church of Latter Day Saints have handmade 150 quilts to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. With many in WNC still without power and the temperatures dropping, this is a heartwarming gift of love and comfort. Thank you to everyone involved in this and many other incredible acts of kindness. Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. #MANNAFoodBank #HurricaneHelene #Community #Kindness #Quilts #Charity

Food is Medicine South Carolina met to hear from pioneers in the field, as well as plan for 2025. The speakers included Erin W. Martin, co-founder of FreshRx Oklahoma, and Dr. Alison Gustafson, founder of the Food as Health Alliance in Kentucky. Here are a couple of our key takeaways: 1) The quality of our food – based on how it is grown – is a key contributor to disease 2) Food is Medicine initiatives help decrease disease prevalence We're looking forward to helping the FiM movement gain momentum here in the Carolinas! #FeedingtheCarolinas #FoodisMedicine #AnnualMeeting #Recap #EndHunger

Partnering for Impact: Disaster Relief in Action The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia recently stepped up to support MANNA FoodBank - Asheville NC by providing essential storage space for food supplies. This collaboration is especially critical for North Carolinians affected by Hurricane Helene, who have temporarily moved to North Georgia. Through this partnership, we’re ensuring that families facing hardship receive the food and care they need. This is the Feeding America network in action: Food Banks uniting during times of crisis to uplift communities and deliver relief. Together, MANNA, Northeast Georgia, and Feeding the Carolinas are dedicated to bringing hope and nourishment to those affected. This is what #FeedingHope looks like. Together, we're #HealingFromHelene. #FeedingTheCarolinas #SupportFoodBanks #FightHunger #CommunityImpact #DisasterRelief Erin Barger Claire Neal, Micah Chrisman
