"Traditional 3D printers extrude materials like plastics or metals through a nozzle. In our approach, we’ve developed a micronozzle that delivers reactive gases instead. These gases interact to deposit atomically precise layers, enabling the creation of 3D atomic layers on flat surfaces and 3D elements." The power of ecosystem collaboration – from open chip architectures to open conferences 🦾
🚀💻🎄Shaping the Future of Computing: A Christmas before Christmas! This past week was all about the Future of Computing Conference 2024 in Munich—an inspiring event that brought together over 200 attendees, including 26 game-changing startups, leading voices in venture capital, corporates, and political leaders, to explore what lies ahead for computing. 🌟 The Highlights: From semiconductor innovations to breakthroughs in quantum computing and photonic simulation, the conference was a vibrant display of the talent, ambition, and collaboration driving the tech of tomorrow. Some key takeaways: 🌿💻Sustainability in Computing: As the world grapples with energy challenges, innovative solutions in computing—from more efficient chips to eco-conscious architectures—are becoming mission-critical. Startups can help finding new solutions outside the established silos. 🏔️🤝🧸The Power of Ecosystem Collaboration: One standout success of this year’s conference was the collaboration between Munich and Berlin, two cities often seen as rivals. Events like this prove just how absurd that notion is. We have seen that Germany’s challenges—whether in tech, capital, energy, or talent development—can only be met if we join forces. Combining the resources and networks of these two innovation hubs was key to making this event a success. Let’s hope it inspires even greater cooperation across Germany’s startup ecosystem. 🔹 Open Innovation & Architecture: Keith Witek of Tenstorrent exactly made this point for a different area in his inspiring keynote: the transformative potential of open chip architectures, driving greater efficiency and adaptability in computing. 🌐 INAM Startups in the Spotlight: I was thrilled to see four INAM / BERLIN QUANTUM Pioneer startups showcasing their cutting-edge solutions at the event: 🔸 quantum grade materials @ BTU (materials refinement process for advancing quantum tech), 🔸anabrid GmbH (analogue computing) 🔸 Qoro Quantum (quantum computing applications), and 🔸 Akhetonics (photonic simulation breakthroughs). 🎙️ Inspirational Voices The event featured incredible speakers, including: • Dr. Fabian Mehring emphasized the importance of the focus on chip development and Bavaria’s dedication to support this. • Anastasiia Nosova, shared insights into AI & computing trends. • Sebastian Luber provided Infineon Technologies AG‘s perspective on quantum computing and its role in shaping the future. 🙌 A Massive Thank You None of this would have been possible without the outstanding efforts of the team, Christopher, Benjamin, Tobias, David, Rosaria, Nahida and many more - as well as our sponsors (see comments)! Who’s ready to redefine the future of computing? Let’s make it happen in #2025! Join the journey - at TUM Venture Labs, Future of Computing Blog or INAM - Innovation Network for Advanced Materials! Thanks Pavel for delivering an amazing pitch at this year's conference!
It was both a great honour and pleasure to attend and pitch at the Future of Computing. There were some very interesting discussions on the VC panel between Dmitry Galperin, Mark Shmulevich, Silviu Apostu, Marc Alexander Kühn, showing that investment community maintains a optimistic, yet sober outlook on the progress of quantum computing in light of some of the community milestone announcements in recent days. The event was a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow startup founders, students and VCs, but also to learn from those that have been-there-done-that such as the keynote speaker Keith Witek - COO at Tenstorrent giving us some food for though about the state of the classical compute space. Thanks you, Benjamin Wolba for the invitation and for co-organising with your team! Photo credit: Bert Will & Marius Almstedt
