Did you know poor air quality can lower children’s test scores, reduce crop yields, and even disrupt the stock market? At Georgia Interfaith Power & Light's Green Team Summit this past weekend, our very own Dr. Preeti Jaggi, chair of GaCCA, and Tanya Coventry-Strader of Mothers and Others for Clean Air, led an eye-opening conversation on the hidden connections between air quality, climate change, and public health. From root causes to real-world impacts, they shared practical ways we can all advocate for cleaner air and healthier communities. #HealthyAirIsHealthCare #Healthcare #Leadership #HealthyAirIsHealthCare

🌍 Cut Desflurane, Reduce Emissions! 🚫 Did you know desflurane has a global warming potential (GWP) 3,700 times higher than CO₂ over 20 years? Just one hour of use has the same climate impact as burning up to 2 gallons of gasoline. With safer, more sustainable anesthesia options available—including canister-based nitrous oxide delivery systems, which significantly reduce waste—hospitals can take meaningful action for both patient care and climate health. Let’s push for a #DesfluraneFree future and a more sustainable healthcare system. 📖 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e-Cjf3zF #netzerohealth #ClimateAction #climatehealth #healthcare

Climate change adds to the 'invisible mental load' of motherhood, especially during pregnancy and postpartum. 🌎 🔥 GaCCA Steering Committee Member Dr. Jennifer Barkin co-authored this powerful commentary on the unique challenges moms face in extreme weather events. 📖 Check it out! https://lnkd.in/evd8543A #ClimateChange #Motherhood #MentalHealth #Healthcare
In this commentary, we describe concrete examples of how climate change/extreme weather exposure impacts pregnant and postpartum women in special ways. Coping with extreme heat, dodging wildfires and hurricanes, navigating evacuation centers with children in tow...it all adds to what we describe as "the invisible mental load" of motherhood. Many thanks to Sanne van Rhijn, colleague and perinatal psychiatrist at Imperial College London, and Mercer University School of Medicine student, Chloe Johnson, for the collaboration.
