Last week the African Observatory on Responsible AI was honoured to join the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Google at Wilton Park as an associate partner for an incredible set of dialogues about harnessing AI in Africa. I learnt so much from three days of engagement and discussion. Thanks to all the wonderful participants! Equitable futures AI not a given. The African Observatory on Responsible AI recently co-hosted a high-level event with Google, UK Development (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office), Wilton Park, and The African Leadership University. Held at the historic Wiston House, the two-day convening brought together African policymakers, regulators, scholars, and innovators to discuss how AI can drive socioeconomic development and bridge the digital divide across the continent. This convening underscored the critical role of partnerships—between governments, regional and international organizations, and the private sector—in creating an enabling environment for AI in Africa. We’re inspired by the actionable insights shared and look forward to implementing the exciting ideas that emerged.  #ResponsibleAI #AIForDevelopment

Tomorrow, Ayantola Alayande, Researcher at the Global Center on AI Governance will be speaking at the Media and Development Conference 2024 hosted by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development in Abuja, Nigeria (November 25–27).
