This week, I had the privilege of presenting at the National Association of Independent Schools #POCC a workshop titled "Building Bridges: Intercultural Dialogue's Role in Unifying Global and DEIBJ Efforts in Our Schools" with my dear friend and colleague Melissa Brown. We explored how schools can use intercultural dialogue to foster empathy, develop intercultural competence, and create more inclusive communities. Key takeaways included: ✅ Low-stakes activities to build critical dialogue skills. ✅ Empowering student leadership to drive change. ✅ Aligning global education and DEIBJ work for broader impact. It was inspiring to engage with educators who were passionate about breaking down barriers and building bridges. Let’s continue this important work together! St. Mark's School Science Department faculty member Lindsey Lohwater, who also serves as the School’s sustainability coordinator, was recently named climate educator-in-residence by the Global Educators' Benchmarking Group (GEBG). As shared in the announcement from the GEBG, “While continuing in her leadership role at St. Mark’s, Lindsey will help lead our new work in support of sustainability leaders and climate educators across the curriculum. Given her leadership in the sustainability and climate education fields, we are humbled that Lindsey has chosen to continue to give of her time and energy to GEBG’s community of schools, and we are grateful to St. Mark’s School for their support." 🎈Recently, Merima Ražanica, the WCM Educational Program Coordinator, held a workshop for 17 teachers from the United States and Canada. Participants explored how they can integrate the Peace and Justice Education Resource Centre, our comprehensive toolkit for primary and secondary school educators worldwide, into their teaching practices. Our guests also visited the permanent exhibition and reflected on the role of the War Childhood Museum in creating a safe space for opening dialogue in post-conflict societies. An incredible weeek of learning and listening in Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia for participants in our professional learning program focused on intercultural dialogue in post-conflict regions. Thanks to Atlas Workshops for partnering on this program for educators, and thanks to all of the thoughtful guest speakers who shared their stories with us.

Last week we welcomed educators from across the US and Canada to our two leadership development programs held in NY. Our global education leaders program, a three day training for new school administrators overseeing global education initiatives or off-campus/experiential programs, welcomed its 8th cohort this summer! Thanks to Nightingale Bamford School for hosting and for sharing about how you educate students to go beyond barriers.
