Mindfulness, democratization, and intentionality – powerful themes from the HBA Midwest region event on AI last week. Our biggest takeaways: • Focus on the problem, not just the technology – AI should solve real challenges for patients, providers, and health systems overall, not just be applied for its own sake; • Democratize AI – Tools today make AI accessible to everyone, not just data scientists; • Data integrity is key – Privacy, consent, and quality still matter above all; • Build governance as you build tools– The infrastructure should match the tech sophistication. The panel helped us envision a starting point with simple, meaningful applications in healthcare – documentation, review cycle management and more. Just like our Golin AI approach, getting hands on will help us all cascade our skill into new AI uses. We're excited to see where this journey takes us next! #AIinHealthcare #HBAimpact #HBAChicagoNorthernSuburbs

As October comes to a close, it is important that we take a moment to recognize Menopause Awareness Month and continue to shine a light on the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menopause. Menopause is a natural phase of life that affects all women around the world to varying degrees, yet it remains shrouded in stereotypes, silence, and misunderstanding. At Golin, we’re committed to fostering open dialogue to create a supportive environment where women feel empowered to share their experiences and seek the care they deserve.    Thank you Jaimee Reggio, KIMBERLY B., Bob Szafranski, and Joe Doyle for lending your voices to this critically important conversation. #MenopauseAwarenessMonth #MenopauseAwareness #Advocacy

As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, we are grateful for employees like Christina Kline who bravely share their personal stories and experiences to help reinforce the importance of early screening and genetic testing to improve outcomes for people and families impacted by breast cancer. Early detection can save lives, and understanding your genetic risk can empower you to take proactive steps for your health. Personal stories are a powerful way to spread the message about the impact of these preventive measures. Together we can spread the word and support all those advocating for increased awareness and accessibility to these vital health services. 💪💖   #WhyWeWork #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #GeneticTesting #Health #Advocacy

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month winds down, I want to highlight the life-saving power of early screening. With breast cancer running in my family —my mother, aunt, and generations before them — I know firsthand how early detection can make all the difference. Thanks to early screening and treatment, both my mom and aunt are now cancer-free.   The birth of my twin girls in 2022 inspired me to get genetic testing last year, especially after my mother discovered she carries the CHEK2 gene mutation. Knowing that a parent with this mutation has a 50% chance of passing it on, I took the test and learned I carry it too. This led to my first screening, which I’ll continue every year.   Regardless of family history, regular screenings are crucial — it could save your life.   I'm grateful to work at Golin Health, where I can help raise awareness about causes that are so personal to me. This is #whywework

Take it from Rowena Kam-Bergman; early detection can be lifesaving. As she shares her emotional journey this #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, we’re reminded that self-advocacy is crucial when it comes to prioritizing one’s health. By being proactive and scheduling regular screenings, Rowena not only championed her own health but found purpose in inspiring others to do the same. Today, she stands proudly cancer-free, a testament to the power of early detection, disease awareness, and determination. Thank you, Rowena, for sharing your incredible story and reinforcing the importance of bringing empathy and purpose to #WhyWeWork.    #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #HealthAdvocacy

As a healthcare communications professional, my work isn't just a job—it's deeply personal. Eight years ago, my breast cancer diagnosis transformed October from a month of fall festivities into a powerful reminder of my journey. I'll never forget receiving that call, my hands trembling as I processed the word "cancer"—a word that suddenly became very real.   That June 2016 surgery began my battle, filled with uncertainty but surrounded by extraordinary support. Through messages, encouragement, and support from friends and colleagues who became my pillars of strength, I persevered. Thanks to early detection, I caught it in time. After 7 years of treatment, I am cancer-free—words that still fill me with profound gratitude.   My message is clear: schedule your annual mammogram. I share my story not for sympathy, but as testimony to how early detection saved my life and could save yours. Working in healthcare has become my calling, allowing me to advocate for others while being part of a company that truly understands the importance of wellness. Each project carries the empathy and understanding that comes from walking this path myself.   Looking back, my cancer journey shaped me into a stronger advocate and more empathetic professional. I've found purpose in sharing my story through various breast cancer organizations and support groups, knowing that each shared experience could give hope or courage to another patient or survivor. At Golin Health, my experience as a survivor gives profound meaning to our work—I know firsthand that healthcare communication isn't just about messages, it's about people facing real challenges. Behind every initiative we create, someone is fighting their own battle, just as I did.   #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #HealthcareAdvocacy #fightingpretty

When it comes to each person's health journey, hope can light the way to a better, brighter future. We're empowered by the stories of people like Danielle LaForce Zindler to continue reminding us #WhyWeWork - for ourselves, for our clients, and for our families and friends. In celebration of #WorldThrombosisDay yesterday, we're spreading awareness by sharing Danielle's experience as inspiration for others who may be going through a similar situation.

In honor of #WorldThrombosisDay being on my birthday this year, I’m proud to work at a company like Golin Health that recognizes the importance of these disease awareness milestones. For me, a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) provoked by a knee injury was devastating—but by getting the care I needed I was blessed to be able to bounce back and do what I love: hitting the slopes with my family this past winter. I stand with all people who might have a similar story, and by sharing mine, it can be a reminder to never stop hoping.
