This week's Featured Partnership: The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) established the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) as an exchange program in 2019 to empower women with the professional skills, networks, and access they need to launch or scale successful businesses. Implemented in nearly 100 countries since 2019, AWE has empowered an estimated 25,000 women entrepreneurs around the world to reach their full economic potential. The AWE program partners with the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation and Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management (ASU), the creators of DreamBuilder, a no-cost online learning platform that teaches AWE participants the fundamentals of business. In 2023, the Department and ASU established a new public-private partnership to also offer AWE participants advanced courses through the Francis and Dionne Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative. The 100 Million Learners Global Initiative offers a transformative opportunity for AWE participants and alumni, fostering skills that drive innovation and economic growth. With courses available at no cost, women from various backgrounds will be equipped to navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship, unlocking potential not just for themselves, but for their communities. This collaboration between the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, Thunderbird and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs underscores a shared commitment to ensuring that women can participate fully in economic, political, and social spheres. Together, we can build a future where women lead the charge toward sustainable growth and opportunity. Join us in supporting the AWE program—an investment in women is an investment in a brighter, more equitable world.

Today, the U.S. Department of State, in collaboration with PVBLIC Foundation and NVIDIA, proudly hosted the Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) Showcase and Networking Event at the U.S. Center during #COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event highlighted the power of innovation and collaboration in addressing global climate challenges. Four startups—Forest Hero, FortyGuard, Boomitra, and Tomorrow.io—took center stage, presenting transformative solutions ranging from reforestation and urban heat mitigation to carbon sequestration and climate analytics. Opening remarks by Thomas Debass, Deputy Special Representative for Global Partnerships at the U.S. Department of State, and Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Executive Chairman of PVBLIC Foundation, underscored the critical role of partnerships in advancing sustainable innovation across the Americas and the world. In his address, Sergio emphasized the need to strengthen these partnerships to accelerate climate action and support inclusive, global solutions. 🌎 At PVBLIC, we are proud to work alongside partners like the U.S. Department of State and NVIDIA to empower climate entrepreneurs and drive impactful solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Throwing it back to last year's #COP28 as we wrap up #COP29, where Dana Shukirabayeya won last year's Women Climate Entrepreneurs Pitch Competition. Her startup, Forest Hero, is a "smart" platform based in Central Asia that combats deforestation and aims to reduce the world's carbon footprint. She won $300k to scale up FOREST HERO. This year, she was a speaker at CCE's Showcase and Networking Event, which took place earlier today. Other speakers were Jay Sadiq of FortyGuard, Aadith Moorthy of Boomitra, and Rei Goffer of Tomorrow.io. These speakers were able to discuss the issues their startup addresses, the challenges they have faced, and how they have overcome these challenges.
