The Davey Awards are the largest and most prestigious awards competition exclusively for the “Davids” of creativity. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock – the sort of thing small agencies do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than stratospheric budgets. The Davey Awards may be for smaller companies, but the judges have big reputations.     When I began my journey in college admissions 16 years ago, I was driven by a simple yet powerful goal: to make a positive impact on students' lives. Little did I know that one of the key figures who would shape my approach to this profession was Gil Rogers, Founder and Principal at GR7 Marketing. I first crossed paths with Gil back when I was just starting to explore new ways of reaching students. At the time, ZINCH was a revolutionary platform, and Gil was one of its early adopters and evangelists. It wasn't just the technology that impressed me—it was how Gil helped me unpack Zinch's tagline, "Right Student, Right Message, Right Time," and translate it into actionable strategies that truly improved enrollment outcomes at my institution. Gil has always been ahead of the curve, consistently identifying how our profession needs to evolve to meet our ideals. His forward-thinking mindset has been a guiding force in my career. Whether it's seeking his insights, following the path he's blazed, or simply enjoying a conversation over coffee at an outdoor patio in Chicago, Gil has been a source of inspiration and mentorship.
