Last Thursday, Professor Alessandro Banterle of Università degli Studi di Milano presented the #GreenDriedFruit project during the ‘Distribution’ day at the Festival dell'Innovazione Agroalimentare promoted by Food Hub. 📍 The Festival brought together more than 1,800 agrifood stakeholders from universities, research, start-ups, industry and freelancers online for five days. The presentation aimed to provide an overview of the project's activities, organisation and preliminary results. The GreenDriedFruitApp is designed to operate effectively and autonomously, regardless of existing structures and conditions, providing crucial insights for “territorial-level management.” This cloud-based App will also allow for the recording of all treatment data, which can be stored and utilized for commercial purposes, such as evidence of treatment for dried fruit exports, phytosanitary inspections, and application scenario storage (target species, target product, type of storage, etc.). The Sensor-App system prototype will undergo testing in commercial facilities across Greece, Turkey, and Israel to evaluate its effectiveness and enhance performance, incorporating feedback from farmers and processors. These experiments will take place both in storage facilities and demonstration farms, with ongoing performance monitoring to ensure optimal functionality.
