Meet Bianca! Before joining Girl Scouts, Bianca struggled to make friends and lacked the confidence needed to succeed socially and academically. From the moment she joined, Bianca began to blossom. As her self-esteem grew, so did her leadership abilities. “Being a Girl Scout helped me discover the skills and confidence I have used to get to where I am now. Using those same skills, I’m eager to go out and make the world a better place,” says Bianca. I’m excited to announce the release of our latest ‘green’ paper, “Empowering Youth in STEM; Bridging STEM Programming Gaps in Southeastern Michigan.” Access to STEM education helps youth develop academically and personally. Also, STEM education and programming are essential as the U.S. faces a STEM labor shortage. Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is committed to helping narrow the gaps in STEM programming and education, particularly for girls and women, students of color, and students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds as they are significantly underrepresented in STEM fields.
