When Bianca was struggling to make friends in elementary school, her mom signed her up for Girl Scouts. Not only did Bianca make new friends, but her life was transformed in many wonderful ways. As her self-esteem grew, so did her leadership abilities! Not every girl can afford to participate in Girl Scouts, and that's where you come in. Every dollar you give helps unlock the potential of a young girl, setting her on a path to success—just like Bianca. Read more about Bianca's story and give today: www.gssem.org/give2024

About us
Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) is a local organization chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA that provides support for Girl Scouting and Girl Scout Troops in Southeastern Michigan. GSSEM proudly serves more than 37,000 girls in Genesee, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, and St. Clair Counties as well as parts of Monroe & Wayne County. We have service centers in Clinton Township, Detroit, Flint, Port Huron, and White Lake. Our council is under the leadership of our CEO, Monica Woodson and our Board of Directors. Since the Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of today’s girls, diversity is more important than ever. The unique geography, landmarks and history of southeastern Michigan create amazing opportunities for an exciting Girl Scout experience. Girls can explore the art, museums, theater, dance, music and food that exist in our communities.

Meet Bianca! Before joining Girl Scouts, Bianca struggled to make friends and lacked the confidence needed to succeed socially and academically. From the moment she joined, Bianca began to blossom. As her self-esteem grew, so did her leadership abilities. “Being a Girl Scout helped me discover the skills and confidence I have used to get to where I am now. Using those same skills, I’m eager to go out and make the world a better place,” says Bianca. Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan reposted this
I’m excited to announce the release of our latest ‘green’ paper, “Empowering Youth in STEM; Bridging STEM Programming Gaps in Southeastern Michigan.” Access to STEM education helps youth develop academically and personally. Also, STEM education and programming are essential as the U.S. faces a STEM labor shortage. Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is committed to helping narrow the gaps in STEM programming and education, particularly for girls and women, students of color, and students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds as they are significantly underrepresented in STEM fields. Read more about our research findings and GSSEM's strategy including our Mobile STEAM Lab POWERED BY General Motors coming soon to communities throughout southeastern Michigan! #NotYourMomsGirlScouts #BeyondTheCookie Link to latest news article:

Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan celebrates all advancements in women’s leadership, and we congratulate all the women who ran for and won elected offices here in Michigan and beyond. Fulfilling the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character hinges on girls seeing and believing what they can aspire to, despite what society says is possible for them. GSSEM, our volunteers and supporters, will continue working to give girls the unmatched opportunities and experiences that help them discover and unleash the leader within.
