The Hydrogen Centres of Vocational Excellence (H2CoVE) project aims to equip the European workforce with the right and necessary high-quality vocational skills for industries in the emerging value chains for a hydrogen economy. Five regions will pool their knowledge and expertise to build local ecosystems for skills. The need for investments in infrastructure for production, storage, and end-use applications for hydrogen is enormous, a skilled workforce is a prerequisite. Next partner to be presented is Vestland Higher Vocational College, which is one of the largest public vocational colleges in Norway, with appr. 2,000 students. We specialise in technical and petroleum/maritime educational programmes and are an important provider of highly skilled workers for industries and businesses in Vestland County and beyond. The main administration lies in Bergen, which due to its strategic location on the coast, is an international centre of influence within marine, maritime and petroleum-related research environments and business clusters. The H2CoVE project will further strengthen the region’s competence and capacity on hydrogen and enable us at Vestland Higher Vocational College to deliver training and education of high quality for the many new green industries in our region. Among other activities, we will contribute to the organizing of regional and international train-the-trainer courses on hydrogen and develop and pilot courses for students and for enterprises, together with our regional partners, Fjord Base Gruppen, Sustainable Energy Norwegian Catapult Centre and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. 🌟 Vestland Higher Vocational College is excited to join this project, and teacher and Ph.D. Håkon Kaya, rector Torbjørn Mjelstad and international coordinator Hege Fjeld all look forward to tasks ahead! The lecture "Safety Aspects of Hydrogen as an Energy Carrier," organized by DCTerra and Hanzehogeschool Groningen at ENTRANCE - Centre of Expertise Energy, as part of the EU project H2CoVE, brought these elements to the forefront. 🔍 Highlights of the Lecture: The session was divided into two parts: 1️⃣ Education and Safety Research: Focused on operational safety, inspection, maintenance, and predicting failure behavior of hydrogen systems. From Willem Hazenberg (Bilfinger) MBA EUR ING RI Highlighted the importance of innovative training programs to develop a well-equipped hydrogen workforce.
