Federal and state health care coverage programs — like Medicaid — play an important role in providing health insurance coverage for community members who live in rural areas. A recently published research report from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation describes patterns in insurance coverage and uninsurance rates in rural and urban areas, reviews non-financial challenges in accessing care faced by many rural residents, and describes disparities in health outcomes between urban and rural areas. A great read for our partners who work to address barriers in rural New York! #RuralNewYork #RuralAmerica #RuralHealth #HealthInsurance #InsuranceCoverage https://lnkd.in/gczkse3u

Health and social care overlap and intersect, and health literacy can majorly impact our wellbeing. Let's help our communities improve health literacy — leading to better health for all — by deepening our own understanding of the roles of health literacy! #HealthLiteracyMonth
Before #HealthLiteracyMonth comes to an end, it's important to highlight the crucial link between health literacy and social care. A systematic review published in the National Library of Medicine (NLM) reminds us that social drivers of care (#SDOH) such as income, education, and living conditions affect individuals’ ability to understand health information. Health literacy can help bridge these gaps, empowering people to make better health decisions. 🗝️ 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: When individuals have the tools to navigate both health and social services, they can make choices that lead to improved health outcomes. 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬: 💡 Host workshops to educate communities about available health and social resources. 💡 Collaborate with local agencies to share information and create referral pathways. It's always an honor to celebrate partners that provide vital services to community members. 🌟 Last week, our Operations VP, Deana M Michaels, and Operations Director, Anne Hango Costa, attended The Food Pantries for the Capital District's 13th Annual Harvest Evening Celebration! As food insecurity is on the rise, it was so important to learn about the impact the coalition's 65+ member food pantries make each day across the region, working together toward a hunger-free Capital Region. #AnnualHarvestEveningCelebration #SupportingPartners #Partners #FoodInsecurity #FoodPantries #CapitalRegion

Today was seriously SWEET! 🍬🍫 We satisfied a candy craving as we revealed the 2024 Q3 recipient of our Quarterly Employee Recognition Award at today’s all-staff meeting. Starbursts because she’s an absolute star; Nerds because she’s full of insight and knowledge; 3 Musketeers because she’s team-oriented; and Wild Berry Skittles because she’s always ready to take wild times head on — all things that perfectly describe Sarah Mytelka (Wong), MS! Congratulations, Sarah! We’re incredibly grateful for all you do! 🥳 While the candy will help fuel Sarah to keep communications on point, we couldn’t leave out the rest of the team from the sweet celebration. Shout out to Todd Seeberger and Windy Hill Orchard for the delicious apple cider and cider donuts! 🍎🍩 #EmployeeRecognition #EmployeeAppreciation #HealthyAlliance #Team
