🔵 The Case of Notre-Dame de Paris and Ukrainian Experience 🔵 Join Us for the Third Webinar of the "Architectural Heritage Preservation in Times of War: The Ukrainian Model" project, titled "Digital Documentation of Heritage for Restoration and Reconstruction of Damaged Monuments" War leaves deep scars not only on people but also on architectural heritage. How can destruction be documented in a way that serves as a foundation for future restoration? What should the priorities be in rehabilitating damaged sites? These questions will be explored during our project's third webinar. Experts will discuss effective methods for documenting losses, transforming this work into evidence of war crimes and a resource for post-war reconstruction. Particular attention will be paid to combining the documentation of material damage with the preservation of intangible heritage and the communities’ traumatic experiences. Speakers: ▪️ Dr. Lindsay Cook, Assistant Teaching Professor of Architectural History in the Department of Art History and Co-Director of the Consortium for Early Modern & Medieval Studies at Penn State University. ▪️ Vasyl Karpiv, Restorer of monumental art, member of the national executive committee of ICCROM Ukraine. In 2011, in Lviv, he founded the KARP Restorer restoration bureau specializing in researching, conserving, and restoring Ukraine's built cultural heritage. Language: English with simultaneous translation to Ukrainian. Zoom: (You will receive a personalized link after filling out the registration form) Date: Friday, 13 December, 2024 Time: 18:00 pm - 19:30 pm EET (Kyiv time) Register here: https://lnkd.in/eBq-5ZYE The webinar is part of the project “Architectural Heritage Preservation in War Times: The Ukrainian Model,” a collaboration between The Heritage Management Organization, Kharkiv School of Architecture, and Skeiron, supported by the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.

The Republic's latest issue celebrates and explores Nigerian heritage. According to the publication's Wale Lawal, The Republic's contributors uncovered the alternative Nigerian heritage, building up to an iridescent display of what this has been, is and could potentially be. The Republic has received funding from the Mellon Foundation to to establish itself as a regional, leading hub/platform for Black and Africa-focused ideas and critical perspectives; and to further connect Africa and the African diaspora on critical issues. Happy Thanksgiving 🎉 Thanksgiving, as celebrated today in the U.S. and Canada, is deeply rooted in the history of harvest festivals—events that honor abundance, gratitude, and community. Its origins trace back to the 17th century when Pilgrims and Native Americans shared a feast in 1621. This tradition has since evolved into a day for reflecting on blessings and expressing thanks. From the stories we pass down to the recipes we cherish, Thanksgiving embodies the heart of cultural heritage—honoring the past while creating new memories for the future. 🍂 What are you most thankful for this year? 🔗heritagemanagement.org #Thanksgiving #heritagemanagement #heritage #culturalheritagemanagement #culturalheritage #heritagenation #culture #intangibleculturalheritage #heritagemanagementorganization #unite4heritage #heritage4generation
