About us
HIGH STREET HOSPITALITY GROUP AND ELLEN YIN High Street Hospitality Group (HSHG) is founded and owned by restaurateur Ellen Yin and Eli Kulp. The group operates five of the country’s most noteworthy restaurants and bars: Fork, High Street Philly, High Street Provisions and a.kitchen+bar in Philadelphia. Ellen Yin is an esteemed restaurateur who was named a two-time finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s coveted “Outstanding’s Restaurateur,” award over the past two years. Yin has a long-standing history of championing mentorship and leadership of women inside the kitchen and across the front of house. FORK Fork, the flagship of High Street Hospitality Group and iconic Old City restaurant, has stood the test of time, paving the way for sustainable, local and elevated dining for the past 25 years, evolving continuously and consequently. The concept emphasizes sustainability and local sourcing and was a true pioneer in the farm-to-table category, recognized in 2020 on Esquire’s list of “Top 100 Restaurants America Can’t Afford to Lose.” HIGH STREET PHILLY A fast-casual concept beloved for chef-driven sandwiches on long-fermented bread made from local grains and pastries with an emphasis on hand-made pastas and sourdough pizzas. High Street was named Bon Appetit Magazine’s #2 Best New Restaurant in 2014. A.KITCHEN + BAR Seasonal, French-inspired cuisine featuring an innovative natural wine list, led by Chef Eli Collins, who won Philly's Best Chef 2022 & received 3 bells from Craig Laban. One of Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Wine Restaurants. HIGH STREET HOAGIES a sandwich shop located at Franklin's Table on the University of Pennsylvania’s campus in West Philadelphia. THE WONTON PROJECT Founded in April of 2021 as a timely culmination of a passion project, and a way to support the AAPI community following the hateful crimes in Atlanta, Yin launched The Wonton Project with a recreated version of her mother’s original home-style Chinese wontons.

“As an Asian-American woman, I sometimes struggled to find my place but I always felt a sense of belonging in the #hospitality industry,” notes Ellen Yin, restaurateur, High Street Hospitality Group. As a leader and entrepreneur, Yin quickly learned that success depends on ensuring that all team members feel a sense of belonging and connection. For her, success depends, too, on embracing #diversity and offering support and opportunities for growth. #diversityequityandinclusion #DEI #foodservice #foodserviceindustry #culinary Sponsored by Vollrath Foodservice

Congratulations are in order! During last night's Dish It Up Chef Competition, Rebecca Foxman of Fox & Sons Fair Food and Kate Hughes of High Street Philly took home the Purple Dish Award and Purple Dessert Award respectively. Rebecca's savory buttermilk funnel cake with pickled shrimp salad and Kate's blueberry dill cheesecake wowed our celebrity judging panel and attendees alike. You can taste Rebecca and Kate's culinary creativity for yourself when you visit Fox & Sons at Reading Terminal Market and High Street Hospitality Group's restaurant and bakery on 101 S. 9th Street. Congrats to the winners, and many thanks to all the chefs who delivered exquisite culinary creations in this year's competition. For 16 years, Dish It Up has brought together our city's best women chefs and anti-abuse advocates for an important cause: to empower survivors of intimate partner violence in Philadelphia. This year's competition is over, but you can still get involved. Check out the comments to learn more! #congratulations #DishItUp #ChefCompetition #philadelphia

Philadelphia's food scene continues to receive international media attention landing on Eater's list of The Best Food Cities to Travel to in 2024. 🍽️ "From cozy BYOBs to exquisite prix fixe menus, Philly may be surprising out-of-towners with individual, award-winning restaurants, but the making of the modern food scene has been an intentional citywide endeavor." Philadelphia is one of only three U.S. cities to make it on the list. James Beard Foundation Award-winners, Friday Saturday Sunday, Kalaya, and High Street Hospitality Group are highlighted, and so are other top-notch restaurants including My Loup and Honeysuckle Provisions. 📸: D. Last night was a great conversation at the Free Library of Philadelphia with author Grace Lin on the myths and legends behind some popular American Chinese foods. The conversation was moderated by Ellen Yin of High Street Hospitality Group as the two also discussed the history of the Lunar New Year and the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs.
