HSMAI NYU Intercollegiate Conference is underway and off to a terrific start. Excellent, insightful keynote on leadership by Dayna Zeitlin, CRME, followed by an engaging panel on communication, culture and leadership with Kate Blumenthal, Abe Monzon, and Zaw Oo, three inspiring leaders! I’m learning as much as the students! Guess we’re always students of hospitality. Looking forward to the second panel!

I feel very grateful today. Here's why. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to lead my first planning session as the incoming president of the HSMAI NYC chapter. I feel very fortunate to be working with these passionate leaders of HSMAI. As a team we talked about the importance of what we are all about and what we want to bring in 2025. Simply it's: content, community, and commerce. Every single month, we are scheduling top-notch industry programming/events for marketing, sales, and revenue management. Plus, we will have exclusive member-only HSMAI (FOMO for you non-members) programming: happy hours (open to anyone in HSMAI) and our new "ask an expert" available on zoom. Through our new PR committee, we will be give back to NYC through organized volunteer events. But wait, there's more! Our Education team lead by Katy Rupp (with Consuela D. Hooblal) and supported by Marcia James, Nadia Jagdeo, Jane Pearsall, and the leader of the Global Intercollegiate Conference Dayna Zeitlin, CRME lined up a 2025 full of WOW! The Special Events team lead by Isabel Choi and supported by David A. and Benjamin Maddy is organizing our holiday party, summer bash, this is our city, Happy Hours, and Volunteer days! FANTASTIC! So you know about the programing/events (way in advance), Marketing is lead by Kelly Otto. Luis A Lizarazo Jr and Steven Chrappa will make sure you know about all our upcoming events and programming through all our digital channels. Alex Pensyl is our go-to for all sponsorship and this year there will be so many new sponsorship opportunities with more face-to-face matching of partners/hoteliers! Because recognition and celebrating success is absolutely critical, we are very lucky to have Andrea LoPiccolo to continue to lead Awards and Recognition. Every year, Andrea and Lucille Yokell level-up and do a phenomenal job on the annual (Black Tie) Berkman Awards Dinner. Julian Emanuel is the new leader of Membership and he will be so much better than I ever was in the role with his incredible ideas to reach new members. He is supported by William C. Parris in recruitment and Agnes Prusaczyk member engagement. Scott Schachter, CRME will continue growing our Rising Leaders of NYC! Managing our day to day, making sure the events go smoothly, and herding the cats is a near impossible task. I'm so grateful for Lori O' Connell as our Chapter Executive Director. I am also so appreciative that Kathie Stapleton and Frank Stapleton choose to stay involved even as they enjoy retirement! Thank you outgoing president Derek Brewster, CRME for your leadership, mentorship, and wisdom! Last night, we had a special guest at our planning board meeting. The one and only Jenny Teeson, CHSE! We appreciate you coming to join us from Minnesota. I'm very excited for the opportunity to lead this chapter, give back to NYC, & make a difference for our industry. - The Hotels Network | Growth Advisors International Network - GAIN | Sor Branding | HSMAI Foundation
