Adria Jover represented IEMA at the Mobile World Capital Barcelona and these are his thoughts about it.
Every year, the Mobile World Capital Barcelona offers something new, highlighting the intersections of various sectors—all united by deep technology. This interdisciplinary approach is a constant in today’s technological race. Some might wonder: What does Mobile World Capital Barcelona have to do with IEMA? The answer is simple—telecommunications are the future of the maritime and shipping industry, particularly through advancements in autonomous technology. Satellite infrastructure plays a crucial role in optimizing shipping routes, while safety and security remain top priorities for fleet owners. As the industry evolves, seamless connectivity will be essential for operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and sustainable innovation. Some of the technologies showcased this week in Barcelona will soon be implemented, widely adopted, and customized for the maritime industry. Many of these advancements will also be presented at the Autonomous Ship Expo in June, in Amsterdam, as part of the Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology International Exhibition. It’s fair to say that everything is interconnected, and in this era of localized globalization, technological shifts in one sector inevitably influence others.
