  • We’re thrilled to see Abe Brown Ministries, Inc. recognized for their work to provide bridge housing to formerly incarcerated people who need it, and proud to be supporting the expansion of their reentry housing program through our National Reentry Housing Incubator. With more than 650,000 people released each year from state and federal prisons – too often into a prison-to-homelessness pipeline – alleviating housing insecurity for this community is vital to solving our nation’s broader housing crisis. We’re especially grateful to the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Wells Fargo Foundation for supporting our Housing Incubator and making this work possible.

  • The work to advance safety, justice, and opportunity has always been rooted in an unwavering belief in what's possible. Leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. remind us that “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” Today and every day, we’re committed to bringing bold new justice solutions to light, and building a future that reflects the best of who we are. #MLKDay2025 #MartinLutherKingJr.

  • Our hearts are with our Los Angeles community, especially our staff, partners, and program participants currently navigating this tragedy. The last few days in Los Angeles have shone a stark spotlight on the importance of safe, secure housing — and have made the critical need for better housing solutions in California even more abundantly clear.

Behind every Homecoming story is a host with a big heart, a participant who is hungry for opportunity, and a team member that punches above their weight class. We’re always looking for hosts (https://lnkd.in/gWvN3eaE) and in 2025, we’re also growing our LA team. Job openings coming soon!

ICYMI: It's one thing to hear about our Homecoming Project hosts and participants from Impact Justice -- it's another to get to read about the experience first-hand on the front page of the Los Angeles Times! Learn how host Nancy and participant Nick went from total strangers to building community with one another here: https://lnkd.in/gWvN3eaE The Homecoming Project has placed nearly 200 people leaving prison in warm, welcoming host homes, and we’re just getting started. This year, we’re continuing to expand in Los Angeles and the Bay Area as we work to leverage spare bedrooms into supportive housing for people who need it most. If -- like Nancy -- you have a spare bedroom, and are interested in earning additional income while helping someone get back on their feet, reach out to us! You just might change your own life in the process.

Congrats to Leadership Cohort member Joey Pagaduan who is part of the team leading the Homecoming Project in the Bay Area. Check out this Los Angeles Times story - it is a great introduction to the program, including it's expansion to LA which happened not a moment too soon. Check it out! The project is a novel solution to a long-standing and pressing problem facing people returning to our communities from prison.

It’s not just “like a revolving door.” In my experience, it feels more like a wide, vacuum-powered entrance, with only a faint glimmer of a tiny window to exit toward safe, healthy, and successful lives. If you know me, you know I’m an optimist—some might even say I never take off my rose-colored glasses. And while some may argue that my optimism doesn’t always align with reality, I have a counter for that. The reality is that I’ve been on the far end of the spectrum, believing life had no purpose. For me, the greatest antidote to that all-consuming despair was finding purpose-driven, mission-aligned work that inspires, motivates, and guides others to see that the glimmer is real—and within reach. Thank you, U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), for inviting us to continue the critical conversation about the nuanced impacts at the intersection of #Homelessness and #Reentry. And thank you to Impact Justice for championing this work, enabling people like me not only to thrive but also to extend opportunities to the millions of people cycling in and out of carceral settings who are seeking a way out of the revolving door. Let’s keep pushing forward to create real, transformative change. 💪✨ #SocialImpact #SecondChances #CriminalJusticeReform #BreakingBarriers #PurposeDriven

Every year, more than 50,000 people are released from jails and prisons directly into homeless shelters. Our nation's overlapping reentry and housing crises demand shared solutions -- and we're proud to be partnering with organizations across the country to bring these to light through the National Housing Incubator, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and Wells Fargo.

We are proud to continue supporting Impact Justice by funding the launch of the California Justice Leaders Postsecondary Pathways Program (CJLP3) with a #SparkGrant. This innovative program will provide higher education opportunities for justice-involved youth, helping them break down barriers and reintegrate into society as educated, skilled individuals. 🎓💪 CJLP3 builds on the success of the California Justice Leaders (CJL) program and creates pathways that bridge the gap between the justice system and education.
