We create crops that can communicate their needs

About us

InnerPlant gives plants a voice via technology that enables crops to communicate what they need. Our crops signal optically if they need more Nitrogen, are attacked by pathogens or insects. Our easy to collect signals can be picked up from field equipment and all the way up to satellites in space. InnerPlant is creating a new data source for the agriculture ecosystem. Enabling efficient cost effective monitoring of large scale crops like soybeans and corn and plant by plant management from field equipment. Driving up to 20% higher yields, while reducing inputs by over 30%. The future of farming is more efficient, more resilient, and more sustainable.

  • 💡 In a new study led by The University of Sheffield, researchers found that enhanced weathering (EW)* —spreading crushed basalt on fields— could eliminate up to 490M metric tons of C02 by 2027. Importantly, the study—which was published in Nature earlier—this month, provides the first in-depth analysis of the impact and economics of implementing EW across the U.S. over the next 50 years. While EW is not without its own set of challenges, uncovering the overlooked potential of this approach in reducing our climate impact is progress. 🚜 Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4ieGtaD _______ *Enhanced weathering (EW) is a technique that spreads crushed volcanic rock (basalt) on fields to extract carbon from the atmosphere. Basalt's unique properties allow it to store C02 in the ground, while also releasing nutrients into the soil that support crop health—a win-win for farmers & the planet.

  • From the first low-orbit 🛰️  detection of human-made soybean signals in Argentina to finding the lower limits of field size visibility in Missouri—satellite detection at InnerPlant operates on a truly global scale. 💡 Notably, in Iowa, fluorescent signals from our soybeans are clearly detected two to three weeks before canopy closure (roughly R1). • The top soybean-producing state just got a lot more soy-ful 🌱 We are excited to have Sydni Scott and Robert (Bob) Starke represent the InnerPlant team in Illinois! 🔸Sydni brings a diverse set of skills in sales and business management from her experiences in the agriculture industry. Her background earning a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy Management from Illinois State University will be useful in her role as a Territory Manager to help promote our CropVoice technology in the field. 🔸Bob has an impressive background in agronomy and crop science, with a PhD in this specialization from the University of Arkansas and helping lead research projects focused on plant protection against pests and diseases. His technical knowledge and leadership experience will serve him well as an Agronomy Services Lead in helping Illinois soybean growers improve their detection of crop threats and needs more efficiently. #SeedingTheFuture #AgTech #Midwest

  • Our Midwest team is growing in the Cornhusker state 🌱 Please join us in welcoming Josie Samuelson, CCA and Tristan Mueller to InnerPlant! > Josie's Nebraska farming roots run deep—from growing up on her family's 4th-generation farm to now managing her own row crop operation. As Nebraska Territory Manager, she brings hands-on agronomy expertise and a true grower's perspective as we expand CropVoice access to soybean farmers across the state. > Tristan brings more than a decade of experience leading row crop trials and agricultural research to InnerPlant's Field Plant Pathology program—helping further validate and refine our tech capabilities in the field and translate complex pathology into real-world value for growers. #SeedingTheFuture

  • Prices are up. Prices are down. What does it mean for growers? 📊 InnerPlant Director of Product & Creator of the Topsoil newsletter, Ariel Patton, recently joined Tim & Tyler on The Modern Acre podcast to break down the math behind commodity crop prices. 🌦️ Weather impacts growing conditions, but other factors—like technology—are reshaping how farmers make decisions. At the core, supply and demand drive price swings in Agriculture. ⚙️ Sound simple? Not so much. The Ag market isn't linear. Flexibility and diversified practices are key to adapting as challenges grow. Working *with* the system, not against it, makes all the difference. 🎧 check out the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gMWKvWCP #InnerPlant #SeedingTheFuture #AgTech #TuneInTuesday

  • Progress paid off ☑️ A recent study from Purdue University found that improved crop varieties and reductions in cropland use protected 1000+ species from biodiversity loss at the global level. Using their ‘SIMPLE-G’ model, the multi-decadal analysis attributed these positive outcomes to agricultural developments at the local scale. 🐦⬛ Individual actions might not seem significant at a given moment, but combining these with similar efforts from others in a community can make a big difference over time. Investing in ag-forward practices and technologies in the present can further improve agriculture production and food security in the future. ✨ https://lnkd.in/dS_BQDzY

  • Equipped with knowledge 📚 Students at Wayne State University can learn about emerging technologies and precision ag practices as part of a new smart agriculture program funded by the USDA. The program trains curious minds about the intersections between sustainable agriculture and improving global food production efficiency using data science approaches. 📊 Initiatives like these are important to welcome and encourage new people into the field of agriculture and ultimately set them up to foster more sustainable farming systems in their communities. https://lnkd.in/gTUD88RX

  • All-around farming 💫 The number of women is growing in agriculture, with 36% making up the population in 2022 according to the USDA. Women have always been involved in the farm community, and even more have the opportunity to get involved whether it’s through hands-on field operations or serving their community on local boards. 👩🌾 As long as there’s passion and determination, it doesn’t take a special pass to get into the agriculture sector. Farming is for all, and it will be increasingly important to support all groups in agriculture to develop more sustainable solutions for the future. https://lnkd.in/gJ9MwTkg
