As we wrap up the #16DaysOfActivism against #SGBV, today’s #InternationalUHCDay reminds us that access to healthcare is vital for supporting survivors of violence and ensuring no one is left behind. Universal health coverage must prioritise the needs of all women and girls to build a safer, healthier future. Our Member Associations are at the forefront in the Pacific—delivering life-saving services, raising awareness, and driving change. Let’s continue to push for a world free from violence. #SRHR4All #16Days #Pacific International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Tomoko Fukuda https://lnkd.in/gE7YcdWP

As #WorldAIDSDay approaches, let’s take the rights path! HIV remains a major global public health issue. Across the #Pacific and beyond, harmful laws, stigma, and discrimination continue to deny LGBTIQA+ individuals access to essential healthcare. These barriers undermine well-being, equality, and human rights. Under the theme “Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!”, we’re reminded that everyone deserves access to #HIV prevention, treatment, and care—without discrimination based on gender, identity, status, or location. We’re calling on governments to: ✅ Prioritise HIV prevention and treatment through culturally inclusive and accessible programmes for all, especially marginalised communities. ✅ Uphold legal protections and human rights, ensuring no one faces fear or exclusion when seeking care. ✅ Combat stigma and discrimination by implementing policies and initiatives that foster inclusivity and create an environment where everyone can access healthcare without fear. Read our full statement and join the call for united action! #SRHR4All #16Days #LGBTIQA #TakeTheRightsPath #Pacific International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Tomoko Fukuda https://lnkd.in/gcrANsPY

Great News! Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Australia announced a $56.8 million commitment to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR) and eliminate violence against women and girls across Southeast Asia. 📌 Tomoko Fukuda, IPPF ESEAOR Regional Director, shared: "This announcement couldn’t come at a more critical time. In a political climate where support for SRHR is increasingly under attack, we applaud DFAT for stepping up with such bold leadership. This funding will hold a pivotal role in reaffirming the life-saving importance of ensuring women and girls have access to the rights and services they need to thrive. It sets a powerful example for others to follow. This commitment showcases #Australia’s dedication to advancing safety, health, and dignity for women and girls in our region and beyond." 📌 Nandy A. Senoc, Executive Director of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), highlighted: "With support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the project has delivered over 4.5 million #SRH services through outreach, commodity distribution, and telemedicine. We have also strengthened #HIV care, with #Iloilo and other FPOP chapters like #Soccsksargen and #Pampanga now accredited treatment hubs. Moving forward, FPOP is set to expand efforts and reach farther to serve more underserved, geographically isolated communities in partnership with #NGOs and Local Government Units (LGUs)." 📌 Dr Souphon Sayavong, Executive Director, PFHA - Promotion of Family Health Association of #Lao shared: "From July 2021 to July 2024, the #RESPOND project delivered 200,000 SRH services to over 87,000 clients, established #SGBV networks in seven districts, and trained over 200 community members to support survivors. Additionally, 12 health facilities were refurbished with private SGBV consultation rooms, ensuring safe care for survivors. #PFHA looks forward to building on this progress to ensure no one is left behind accessing essential services." Together with our program partner MSI Asia Pacific, we are working towards a brighter and more equitable future for all. The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is deeply concerned about the global risks to health and human rights posed by a potential second Trump presidency. Rollbacks on reproductive rights, gender equality, and LGBTQI+ protections, as outlined in the Project 2025 agenda, could undo years of progress for women and marginalized communities worldwide. #ReproductiveRights #HumanRights #EqualityForAll https://lnkd.in/gNEp92Uv International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Tomoko Fukuda

The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the #Beijing30 Review wrapped up today in #Bangkok, #Thailand. Feminists, activists, and women’s human rights defenders from #AsiaPacific gathered to reflect on progress, address gaps, and set priorities for #GenderEquality and women’s #HumanRights. While significant strides have been made, challenges such as discriminatory norms, gender-based violence, unpaid care burdens, and limited investments in gender equality persist. At our side event, "Women's Rights at Risk: Reflections on the Left Behind," cohosted with our Member Association in Thailand (PPAT) and partner Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, key takeaways included: ✅Persistent barriers like stigma, criminalisation, and socio-economic marginalisation hinder healthcare access. ✅Inclusive policymaking must centre on marginalised communities, including LGBTQIA+ groups and sex workers. ✅Stronger partnerships between governments, civil society, and development agencies are vital to closing policy and implementation gaps. ✅ Intersectional, data-driven approaches are essential for reshaping health and rights frameworks and advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights Let’s carry the energy from this week forward, turning reflections into action and ensuring no woman or girl is left behind. #Beijing30 #AsiaPacific #BPfA30 #feminist #SRHR4All IPPF South Asia Region Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand (RSAT) APNSW Tomoko Fukuda

This week, we’re in #Bangkok, #Thailand, for the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the #Beijing+30 Review. 📌 Marking 30 years of the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (#BPfA), feminists, activists, and women human rights defenders from #AsiaPacific reflect on progress, address gaps, and set priorities for #genderequality and women’s #humanrights. 📌The #BPfA is the landmark blueprint that set the key principles to advance women's rights rooted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (#UDHR) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (#CEDAW). 📌Ahead of the conference, under the theme “Resist, Reclaim, Transform,” the #Beijing+30 Asia Pacific #CSO Forum, held on November 17-18, united diverse voices across the region. 📌We partnered with One Future Collective, Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and ILGA Asia to co-host the “Shifting Narratives” workshop. Together with 50 activists, we tackled anti-gender and anti-rights ideologies shaped by traditional, religious, and nationalist frameworks, exploring strategies to challenge these barriers and empower the feminist movement. Stay tuned for more updates! 📸Photo Credits: UN Women Asia and the Pacific and Asia Pacific Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights #Beijing30Asia Pacific #BPfA30 #SRHR4All #ResistReclaimTransform Tomoko Fukuda
