  • Recently, our Atlanta distribution center in Forest Park, GA hosted Rosalind “Roz” Brewer for a fireside chat. Hundreds of Catalyst Brands LLC associates from across the Company joined the Mosaic business resource team (BRT) virtually and in person to hear Roz discuss her career journey, path to leadership, personal experiences that have influenced her perspective on Black history and more. Roz is a renowned corporate executive celebrated for her visionary leadership, transformative impact and unwavering dedication to advancing positive change in global business. As one of the few Black women to reach the C-suite in a Fortune 100 company, her groundbreaking career has cemented her status as one of today's most influential figures. She recently returned to her alma mater, Spelman College, to serve as interim president where she now leads with a focus on building upon their legacy of excellence to prepare students for an evolving global landscape. During the event, JCPenney presented a donation to Lauren Carson, founder of Black Girls Smile Inc., to commemorate our continued partnership for #BlackHistoryMonth. See more from the event below.

  • Last June, we announced the first and second-place winners of our fourth-annual HBCU Design Challenge. To celebrate our latest petite-forward collaboration – Bold Elements x Ally Brooke – JCPenney Brand CEO Michelle DeMartini Wlazlo and Catalyst Brands LLC Chief Customer and Marketing Officer Marisa Thalberg, alongside multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Ally Brooke, announced the first-of-its-kind “Petite Power List.” The list features influential petite women – from entrepreneurs, content creators, fashionistas, philanthropists and more – and was announced at a special event in New York on February 5.   • Recently, JCPenney unveiled a new tool to help businesses and nonprofits looking to purchase high quality, durable products at bulk order prices. Our business-to-business website, operated by JCPenney’s Commercial Solutions team, aims to simplify the ordering process while also giving #B2B customers personalized support, top-rated value and exclusive access to JCPenney’s vast catalog of products across several divisions, from our highest-rated products in the home and footwear departments to school uniforms for kids and apparel for men and women. “Customers are our top priority at JCPenney, and we aim to create purchasing opportunities that meets their needs. Our business customers are no exception, and this new tool helps create an opportunity for us to be more accessible and efficient in our delivery of bulk order purchases,” said Wendy Santana, Vice President of Business Development at JCPenney.   • Thanks to the valiant efforts of brave firefighters and first responders, the L.A. wildfires are contained, but the road to recovery is long. As part of its commitment to standing with communities, JCPenney has partnered with Good360 to provide critical support for families impacted by the recent disasters in Southern California. This donation includes 500,000 units of clothing, footwear, homewares and beauty essentials to fulfill immediate needs and support long-term recovery efforts in the Los Angeles area.     In October, members of JCPenney’s Women’s Initiative Networking Group of Success (WINGS) business resource team organized a national team for Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure, successfully raising $13,000 to benefit the organization in honor of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Recently, the WINGS business resource team presented their donation to Susan G. Komen at our home office to support their efforts to create a world without breast cancer. Thank you to our associates who supported WINGS and Susan G. Komen - we look forward to continuing to partner together in 2025.

    JCPenney is proud to announce the first and second place winners of our first-ever #HSIDesignChallenge, created to give full-time students enrolled in designated, Hispanic-serving colleges and universities nationwide an opportunity to showcase their creativity across our stores and online platforms.   Leslie Arriaga, a student at the University of North Texas pursuing a degree in Fashion Design and Advertising, is our first-place winner and will receive a scholarship, an all-expense paid visit to our Home Office to shadow the JCPenney design team, seven virtual mentoring sessions with JCPenney leaders and the opportunity for her design to be included in our 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month #HopeAndWonder collection.   Second-place winner Cindy Martinez Ochoa is a student at Sul Ross State University pursuing a degree in psychology. Cindy will also receive a scholarship, an all-expense paid visit to our Home Office to shadow the JCPenney design team and seven virtual mentoring sessions with JCPenney leaders.   Leslie’s first-place design will be unveiled in our #HispanicHeritageMonth Hope & Wonder collection later this year. Congratulations to Leslie and Cindy!
